I hate polites. He made me hate this 'open arms' approach cuz whyy so dump.. Though it shows how Odysseeus was so fond of him. After his own actions and principles led to his death, Odysseeus only grew more insistent on adopting Polites' worldview, as portrayed in "luck runs out." Odysseeus never made big mistakes, it's only that he was loosely monitoring the route of actions and coincidences around him.

For a few sentences I thought "Oh, this is clearly Odysseus hearing his mom's voice like he imagined Penelope and Telemachus, how sweet". Then I remembered the name of the saga and everything became blurry.

i really love polites part. It reminds me when I was in school trying to fit it or find somewhere to belong but everyone will most likely have their own clique. Then, one day when I was eating alone. A person like Polites (my BFF) sat with me. They are really like the light in my darkest days

There is of course the Hadestown musical. Also check out band The Mechanisms. ESPECIALLY check out their album Ulysses Dies At Dawn, the Mechs' own take on Odysseus/Ulysses and some other Greek myths, in a science fiction setting. (They also have albums about Grimm's Fairy Tales, Arthurian mythology, and Norse mythology all in science fiction settings) For Arthurian mythology specifically, there's also of course Spamelot by some of the people behind Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Camelot by Alan Jay Lerner. If you also think you might wanna give Irish mythology and Cu Chulainn a try, I'd also recommend The Tain by the Decemberists. Ghost Quartet is another concept album with a very mythological feel, tho it more directly references Grimm's Fairy Tales and 1001 Nights. And of course, there's the Lightning Thief musical, makes some changes from the Percy Jackson books but probably the best of the series' adaptations. All in all--I strongly agree that mythology-based music is GREAT XD

I like how many repetitive melodic themes there are for characters, character names, anthems or even simple sentences. Even 'captain' has that same vibe to it. That pertinacity and stress of action it supposed to make us feel Odysseeus is under. But on top of all, the intonations of 'Penelope' wins as the most intriguing theme! Longing, sorrow, and hurt, that can some other times be altered into desire and embrace. Catchy too..
