Dominique Wilkins spoke with The Athletic about what it was like to play against Michael Jordan, and one story stood out. On a night when Jordan dropped 61 points in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks, he apparently went into their locker room before the game and warned his opponents quote: 'Lace them up. It's going to be a long bleeping night.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss what Wilkins' story tells them.

MJ's teams lost early on in the 1st round, no question about that. Facts are facts right? I don't ever recall anyone questioning his efforts or his heart in those losses though. @@rovy1303 True there was no social media but there was alot of media there. Back then there was heavy TV, radio and news print. Magic and Bird are credited with that so the games were on tv. I saw most of them live and I followed MJ from UNC because I've always been a Tarheel. And if you missed the games, they were reported on the news the next day. There was nights MJ had bad shooting but not many and his defense was always there. My point was nobody questioned his efforts because he had no quit in him even if they were down by 20 with a minute to go. I've seen other superstars give up on their teams or save some for the next game and rest up or whatever the excuse was.

These stories are pathetic examples to use to show MJ's greatness. His level of consistency, his efficiency and the fact that he was simply better at more things than any basketball player has ever been, fewer holes in his game than any other NBA player's ever had. A thorough analysis of all careers shows that Jordan's was simply the greatest, even over Wilt's and Bill Russell's.

Michael Jordan had so much help. How many All Stars or Hall Of Famers did Jordan played with? Compared to Dominique Wilkins. Jordan had one of the best wings ever. Best rebounders ever. He had a super team.

Jordan was a lot like Ted Williams. Complete confidence in themselves to the point of almost shocking behavior. Ted’s stories are similar, except one batter in a baseball game can’t control a game in the same way a basketball player can.

I think Shannon is missing the point. This story is not trying to say how competiive he is, it has to do with the fact he told them what he was going to do and did it. Yeah there been other great performances, but it adds a little more spice to it when you call it right before you do it.

MJ doesn't bring this up, other players bring up these stories. But Shannon on something if he says these players today are just as competitive as they where in MJs era.WHAT!? There are no rivalries like there were in 80s&90s.these players are soft and any honest basketball fan who's lived through both era's knows it
