The Alex smith thing is being so blown out of proportion. Of course it’s more mikes fault Coach needs to adapt his playcalling was stale he didn’t make adjustments. Aaron’s also at fault for not communicating right. Gutenkist brought back the oc cuz he was a mediator attempt. New gm. New oc new dc. Political moves giving mike one year on an island with no political support. Mike still didn’t adjust. By mid season. Aaron got petty too. Not running or believing in the plays is making them fail before they start. Aaron has fault. But. Mike was hc. Hc is as much about personnel management as anything. So. Mikes a good guy good coach. I'm a die hard Packers fan and lived in WI for 20 plus years. Most if not all people I knew, knew that Mike McCarthy was an overrated coach. Appreciate what we accomplished when we won the SB but even after that, I still said we needed a new coach. Greg alluded to it. The Seattle game where we was up and Mike just went into cruise control. That was the last straw for me. He's to conservative. I'm no football expert but even I can see what was coming in terms of play calling. And don't get me started with Ted Thompson. Aaron Rodgers does have some blame here as well. He definitely could be a better leader. And to all those people who said Mike McCarthy is a great coach, with winning record, yadda yadda yadda, where is he now? Theres a few coaches right now with no success (Cliff Kingsbury) and not much experience (Freddy Kitchen) just to name a few, all got jobs before Mike. Not saying he can't land one later but this hype about he's great coach and first on anyones list? Pssh If you ask me, his firing was long over due.

Aaron Rodgers holding a grudge over McCarthy over the Alex Smith bit is pathetic. Chip on the shoulder, sure, I understand, but to never get over it, shows how bad it is for both of them. Yes, McCarthy said what he did, but at the same time, he was the OC for the 49ers. It's not like he had the final say so in who they picked. The HC, GM, and Owner have more of the input compared to the OC. So of course, being the OC, you're more of an Yes man that the actually being responsible for the pick and for Rodgers to hold a grudge over that is petty.

Finally we hear it that McCarthy was complacent because he had Rodgers bail him out for many years he never utilized the greatness of Aaron Rodgers hate him or love him he makes plays & for McCarthy to not change his scheme to get the best out of all the great players he had is astonishing now let's see if the new era in Green Bay with Matt Lafluer utilizes the remaining years Rodgers have left!

When you’re the coach and you’re stiffing meetings so you can go get a happy ending you deserve all the blame. It’s not just Rodgers, you’re disrespecting the whole team. No wonder Montgomery didn’t care to listen when they told him take the touchback against the rams. Why should he respect what the coaches tell him?
@Subvisual5 жыл бұрын
Skip and Shannon miss the point that Rodgers holding a lifelong grudge against McCarthy was both a blessing and a curse. Rodgers is the kind of player that needs to have a grievance, that needs to feel he hasn't been given proper respect, because that chip on his shoulder is what fuels him to excel. His very thin skinned nature results in a constant competitive drive almost purely just to prove wrong anyone who doubts him. The question is whether you coach Rodgers such that he keeps his resentments mostly under wraps (and fueling his competitive edge), or if they boil over and result in a completely toxic relationship.

As big of a packers fan and Aaron Rodgers fan I am I will admit Aaron has his flaws. Everything they were saying was true. BUT I will agree with Greg on this one that McCarthy was the most to blame as well as Ted Thompson. The downfall is simply a result in a stale offensive scheme that no longer worked because we didn’t have the players for that scheme. McCarthy’s inability to innovate and adapt plus Thompson refusing to sign veteran free agent talents led to the demise.

Aaron is a diva and petty for not getting over a draft situation that happened 13 years and a Superbowl ago lets see if he gets the same backlash that AB and Bell got

As a Packers fan I’m so over this soap opera...lets just pick up great players and get ready for football. This wouldn’t even be a story if players weren’t taking the locker room into the media. I wont excuse Rodgers cuz he clearly rubs ppl the wrong way but historically, great players do that...this new era of social media and the rumor mill is ruining what should be “just a game”

@Skip - You said "this is a big year for Aaron in 2019" Well... it's 2020 and Packers are 13-3 with a home game to host the Seattle Seahawks. He's proven McCarthy was THE PROBLEM. 2014, 2016 NFC Championship games... especially 2014 against Seattle.... McCarthy went conservative... lost a trip to the SB. He sucks, and history will prove McCathy is going to bomb in Dallas.

......Why is Greg Jennings just now saying something about this considering he was on the team, with both McCarthy and Rodgers, for 7 seasons?......suspect on his part smh bandwagon reporting ....but McCarthy sounds like a more successful Chip Kelly....but if this leads to a much better performance output from Rodgers then so be it....
