After the November game the Patriots had against Green Bay, the New England beat writers said the Patriots were shocked at how vanilla the Green Bay formations and play calling was.

Rodgers had a leg injury the week before against the Bears. Now he came back into that game, (Bears 23, Packers 24) but still it makes his decision on the play where he fumbled to pull the ball back and try to run for the 1st down inexplicable to me. I believe that Rodgers' on field decision making isn't getting enough scrutiny. You did a good job showing on field examples of play calling and execution, and how these determine success or failure.

Hey man been watching your videos really enjoying the content. I just recently got into football heavy the past 3 or 4 years. I enjoy the analytical part of the game /breakdowns and all the nuances that go into it. Been also watching alot of brett kolman and samuel golds videos. Im 24 now and its kind of late but ive been trying to teach myself everything about the game from formations, personnel packages, schemes, positions, etc basically everything about football but it feels like im playing catchup alot. Its kind of hard because theres alota things i feel like you need to play football to know or be around coaching to pick up on. Like what you said about the DE standing up being an indicator for dropping into coverage, or something else i learned recently as well which you touched on a little bit is when the nickel corner is down at the line like that and the safety shades right over the top of him its usually an indicator the nickel is blitzing. Im aspiring to make my own channel with my own film study too but dont want to put out mediocre content or sell the people short i really want to give good in depth content. Is there any books or sites you recommend, ive already done so much research and found some good sources but like i said theres so many nuances to the game that you're not going to learn from books or websites. I appreciate any help you can swing my way and keep up the good work.

Ok,maybe I'm missing something, but I see that sack as big time Aaron Rodgers fault : Since they're on the edge of FG range, he's gotta be thinking short-and he MUST be extra concentration on NO SACK!- So therefore, as he's checking his protection, he MUST MUST take into account BOTH sides of the line, whether there's ANY defender not accounted for- and on the left side,his blind side, if he just adds up what he's got if 20-Alexander comes, it's "easy" for a QB like Rodgers to see that 20- or as you point out,the end ( if left tackle correctly shifts to inside rusher)- will be in on him pretty quickly, AND that if that's the case, Aaron should know he has 3 receivers with 2 covers on that left side, and he has an EASY 5 yard pass to the shorter stem route - who will be the WIDE OPEN hot read.... So I don't know why you keep saying that there weren't many options for Packers here- Aaron is complete ignoring the left side possibilities...
@banquetmeal663

Easier said than done. That game should have never been in OT to begin with considering the bullshit roughing called on Clay when Kirk threw a game losing pick.
@banquetmeal663
@banquetmeal663 5 жыл бұрын
He did miss the blitz but even if he did see it theres no way he's getting a pass off to his left with the mess of people there. No throwing lane at all. This guy did a pretty good breakdown on how the Packers offense has been trending for the last 10 years.
@irar4665
@irar4665 5 жыл бұрын
@@banquetmeal663 ....you're right,not simple, but should be very doable for a QB like Rodgers- the 3rd receiver on the left who is running a short 5 yard "stem" is NOT in a cluster, and should be easy to throw to-.and I repeat that since he's in long FG territory, Rodgers shud AT LEAST be ready to just fire it incomplete on the left side of need be to avoid a sack out of FG position...

@@banquetmeal663 ...Yes, bogus roughing the passer, with this idea that you can't land on the QB even after a regular tackle!... I do recall that Packers also got lucky on Vikings missing an easy FG or something like that...

@@banquetmeal663 Except you’re supposed to throw to the side they’re blitzing from so Rodgers should’ve been throwing to his left. The problem is that he never recognized the blitz. And because of that he immediately looks to his right instead of to his left. Rodgers not picking up the blitz is what doomed that play

Nice breakdown. It feels like the Green Bay offense became stagnant in many respects; recycled concepts and tendencies. However, sometimes I think Rodgers gets a pass from the media. He alienates teammates and now coaches. If one's leader is skeptical and openly revolting, it will spread to the whole team. Players won't play as hard for people who do not respect or support them. I know Rodgers never forgave McCarthy for passing on him in the draft. It may be that Green Bay should have seen this early on and changed coaches. Unfortunate. It feels like GB should have won more than one Super Bowl to this point.
@TheQBSchool

Thanks, David. Yeah, it's complex right? Crazy human emotions. Pretty wild to hold a grudge like that for that long. I think it might have started there but then evolved into a deeper disrespect compounded with big alpha egos. And, I think you're right its almost surprising it lasted as long as it did.
@davidwilliams4837

@@TheQBSchool In some ways, it's probably a failure of GB management [?]. The whole Aaron Rodgers saga is a strange one at every angle. Favre holding on longer than he should. Falling in the draft. Hiring one of the few coaches who criticized Rodgers and sung the praises of Alex Smith early on. Former players and receivers expressing dislike for Rodgers. There's been more dysfunction in GB than most people admit. And I think we're seeing something similar developing in Pittsburgh.

A Rod doesn't call the plays. He audibles to better ones. And he doesn't coach that horrendous defense. A mediocre defense would have him at least one more Super Bowl imo. I can recall the playoff loss to Seattle where GB completely dominated the Seahawks. Wilson was inept all game and we still blew it. Last drive for Russ and our defense comes out in a cover 0 for fucks sake and gets completely roasted. Yeah lets blitz the shit out them and leave our corners out to dry. Another opportunity wasted. Smh

Something I am seeing in this though not sure I am right. It is a major function of Rodgers being a small picture detail guy and not a big picture guy. He sure is accurate (most of the time) but not always a great whole concept visual big picture guy.

Well the the thumbnail implies that he would go over when things started going bad. It's a terrible explanation over one series of a game. Tell me how anything in this video explains "wtf happened" between them. I've watched the Packers faithfully (every game since) since 1995 when I was in 2nd grade. I watched Rodgers and McCarthy since the beginning. If it was my job to make a video about quote unquote wtf happened between them I wouldn't spend the whole time on one series that ultimately had nothing to do about what went wrong. Shit had been in going bad for years before this in my eyes. Just saying this video is far from relevant.
