Brett played a lot of his career before the league started favoring offenses. If he had started playing in the new era he would have thrown for even more touchdown passes and had less interceptions. During his MVP years 95-97 he was the only QB that threw for 30+ touchdowns each year with the best TD/INT ratio in the league and no ones stats were even close. Now days guys throw 30+ TD's and 15 INT in their sleep and still may not be considered a top tier QB.
@reallife9358 жыл бұрын
If Farve played now he would probably throw even more INTS more Chances to make bone headed mistakes. Steve Young played in the tough era back then an still didnt throw alot of INTS. Before Rodgers lol Steve Young was the highest rated passer in NFL History with 96. So i dnt buy that excuse for Farve
@itshiho8 жыл бұрын
A 96 passer rating in todays NFL is basically just good or above average. Matthew Stafford had a 97.0 past year and he only ranked 9th in the league. Tony Romo has a career passer rating of 97.1 which is higher than Steve Young but do you think he's better than Young? I don't think so, so to say Brett Farve would have thrown more interceptions in todays game when piling up numbers and throwing touchdown passes is easier is ridiculous.
@reallife9358 жыл бұрын
itshiho Matthew Stafford 86 career passer rating. And I think even in today's game Farve would throw alot of INTS alot of Farve INTS was forcing passes into triple coverage

Favre had a 106 QB rating with 33TD's against 7 INT's and 4200 yards in his last healthy season, as a 39 year old with the Vikings. This is an old and brittle Favre who never practiced. I think it's safe to say the 94-98 Favre who still had scrambling ability and an absolute cannon for an arm would have been way better in the modern era. I like Rodgers and Favre both but the main differences are mostly circumstance: 1.) Rodgers has never dealt with a coaching change 2.) Rodgers hasn't lost his mobility yet 3.) Rodgers has never had a team that got into long term salary-cap/talent problems like Favre's team did from 99-2005. Or rather, I would say he Rodgers is going through that now, and it shows in his play.

@THE_BEAR_JEW6 жыл бұрын
Favre happened to play when his division was actually good tough. You think about the Minnesota Vikings back in Favre's day and then the Bears with Urlacher. Rodgers hasn't really had to deal with that. Until this past year, there was no defense in the NFC North. Also Favre played the majority of his career in a tougher passing era. Rodgers has played in the most passer-friendly era. That skews stats a lot. I do think Rodgers is amazing and he's top two in the league for sure, perhaps he's better than Favre, but I don't think his numbers would be as pretty if he'd played in the 90s in a way tougher division.

Favre had a better defense, and better backup QBs. For most of his career, Rodgers didn't have a good defense behind him. In fact, if Rodgers was incapacitated, the Packers would be lucky to win 4 games, since he has never had a good backup QB, and mostly, a lousy defense for the last 10 years. Their defense looks pretty good this season, after they strengthened their LBs with some free agents, and if the Packers can get their players back healthy, they might go all the way.

As a packers, aaron, and Favre fan. I would have to agree with jennings. ever since the superbowl, Rodgers has been falling short when it really matter and I think a large part of that is exactly what jennings explained. overall, I'd take aaron Rodgers 24/7 over Favre but if I had one game and it was on the line I'd take favre.
@ErikSlaby8 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's worked well. I can't even begin to count how many time Favre threw mind-boggling stupid interceptions in those scenarios. At least with Rodgers, I know he won't throw a pick. Plus, he had a couple nice Hail-Mary throws last season with the game on the line. Would've had a chance to win the Cardinals game if the defense doesn't blow the game.
@wingadept87938 жыл бұрын
How many of those losses were on Arodg and not the defense? I can think of at least 4 different instances. Rodgers put the packers in position bit the opposing team won on a final possession.
@danbiddick96108 жыл бұрын
The last 2 playoff games Green Bay lost were in overtime on the road and Green Bay never got a chance to touch the ball. The last game Favre had in Green Bay, he set the Giants up with a fg in overtime. Rodgers would never do that.

2012 vs Giants. I don’t recall Aaron Rodgers playing defense and allowing Hakeem Nicks 165 receiving yards and 2 TD. For real, football is a team game and you can play well at your position and still lose. Heck not only was Rodgers the QB but that game he was also the Packs leading rusher with 65 yards. He can only do so much in a game so why put the blame of a loss to the Giants on A-Rod and say he didn’t do enough?
@harrygarris69218 жыл бұрын
Rodgers is just a more talented quarterback who makes better decisions with the football than Brett did. Personally I liked watching Brett more and enjoyed his playstyle more than Rodgers, but ARod's the guy. And time makes it easy to forget, but Favre came up short in the playoffs many times. Neither QB was/is an all time great clutch player.

Farve most INTS in NFL history. Superbowl MVPS Rodgers 1 to Farve 0. And Farve throw Playoff Games away 2002 playoff Farve 6 INTS in a 45-17 loss to Rams. In 2003 Playoff OT loss 20-17 to Eagles an Farve threw INT in OT to lose Packers the game. In 2007 NFC Championship 23 to 20 Packers OT loss to Giants and Farve last pass in Lambeau a INT to put Giants in position to win game.

Durability goes to Favre. Aaron is brittle compared to #4. Intermediate and short throws go to Favre. As bizarre as it sounds, Aaron can't throw screens like Brett could. Deep throws go to Aaron. He throws those powerful, high arc spirals that really sail through the air. Ball security goes to Aaron in a big way. He may be the least intercepted qb in nfl history. Throwing on the run, I have to go Aaron. He may be the best I've ever seen. Intangibles go to Favre, since Aaron holds on to the ball far too long waiting for the perfect window. Punts are technically turnovers in a roundabout way. Plus, Brett was the better teammate since he wasn't as high-strung as Aaron is. Aaron's thirst for perfection can wear on younger players in a negative way. It's close, but I have to lean Brett.
@naishawn98408 жыл бұрын
Nobody is as tough as Brett Farve only ones who comes close are the Manning Bros, great arm, great playmaker and leader. Rodgers has better accuracy, field vision, best Td:Int ratio but if I had to pick one I'm going Farve

When you think about the 2010 Packers' recieving corps, and the fact that they got hot and healthy at the right time (10-4 reg season) i think that the recieving corps never got due credit for that SB season. The BACKUP QB has the all-time GB passing yards record with that group. Once they broke up THAT band, the Packers were never the same. AR will never see another Super Bowl in GB.
