KD also said Tony Allen was his toughest defender to deal with....doesnt that make him the greatest of all time?
@markd15984 жыл бұрын
@@Udon_Noodle I've watched a lot of Tony Allen's defense over the years, and one of his greatest advantages is being somewhat "undersized". His low center of gravity and low defensive stance made him an absolute load to handle. It made him incredibly difficult to back down in the post and it also helped his agility and lateral movement. That, in combination with his quick hands and competitive fire, made him a nightmare on defense. Michael Jordan always said it was the smaller guys who were tough to play against because they're hard to back down and they get "underneath" you and crowd your dribbling space. That's why he was such a nuisance to KD as well. Nowadays, with zone defense and switching being emphasized because of the rules changes and trigger-happy offenses, everyone wants the taller wing players with long arms... But make no mistake about it, the smaller dudes are ALWAYS the best on-ball defenders.

That 2010 Run.. right wrist injury, right shoulder injury, aversion fracture on right index finger, torn ligament on right pinky! but grabbed 15 boards most ever by a guard in the finals!! Refused to have surgery because the ring was more important!

Kobe will be missed greatly. Spurs fan from way back and I hated when he had the ball. He was as close as it comes to a guarantee. Man he aged me because he was so freakin good. I have so much respect for him but I respect him even more as husband and father. RIP GOAT🙏🏽

It’s sad to hear that TA and Kobe didn’t get a chance to have a conversation about their battles. Used to love seeing them 2 battle it out on the court.

@@bori5592 Lebron has the body and the natural talent, but doesn't have the warrior spirit. It seems to me that he plays basketball because he is good at it and it pays well. I don't see the same passion, the same obsession and the same mentality that legends have.

@@aishayue word I agree, he ain't that hungry. When he first left Cleveland for Miami, I know it's a new thing to dip if you want to but that was kinda easy way out for a chip. Mike and Kobe stayed and worked through those terrible years. When Lebron did that, he got asterisk next to his name in the GOAT convo

THANKS SKIP AND SHANNON. Tony's accounts were a pleasure to hear and so informative. Tony of course didn't get recognized by most fans as dealing with Kobe as we were focuse on Rondo, Paul and KG then there was Perk as well. Kudos to Tony making a lot of those shot possible and being the quiet killer.

If you was really watchin ball when Tony was in the league you knew he was one of those guys that nobody wanted to play against every night until the day he retired. I love that Kobe gave him that respect because he truly deserved it. If All Star votes were predicated by defense Tony would be a first ballot HOFer.
