The Loss of Kobe at the age of 41 will forever be sad. And the fact that his 13 year old daughter and all of those good people passed with him makes it even worse. There are so many legends that are still living and have moved on to having great retirements but Kobe unfortunately won’t have that luxury. I absolutely agree that Vanessa's strength was unbelievable. I have been talking about it the last few days to family and friends. Over the 20 minutes she spoke, I went through a wide range of emotions. From crying to laughing to crying again. I grew up with Kobe in my life. I was 8 years old when he came into the NBA and as a kid in Florida who just got into basketball, I was captivated by him. He is the reason I am a diehard Lakers fan. Most of my family lives in or is from the Chicago area, so I heard MJ talk for much of my life growing up. I thought of Kobe as MY Michael Jordan. I learned so much from him. Playing Football and Basketball I tried to have his type of mentality and work ethic as I grew up. He deserves some credit for the success I had as a player. He was a mentor from afar. So for the first time in my life, I was devastated by the death of someone I never met. It felt like losing a friend you grew up with. I really want to thank Vanessa for allowing this memorial to be televised and for shedding light on the person he was and telling personal stories that few people knew. I can't stress how much I appreciate it. She very easily could have had a private service with close family and friends, and everyone would have understood. But she knew how much Kobe meant to many people and went this route instead. Just a class act that women is. I'm sorry for how long this comment is guys. It just kind of poured out of me.

That was the most well put together and powerful display of raw emotion I’ve ever seen in my Life. This hits different especially being from LA, a lifelong Lakers Fan, Watching Kobe since he was 17 years old all the way to becoming a global LEGEND. Bro this is all so surreal. Vanessa Bryant was amazing. The unbelievable strength she showed made it crystal clear to me why an extremely intelligent man like Kobe chose her as his wife. She’s never to my knowledge ever spoken in public like this and completely honored her husband and daughter in a way that made you see the value in a good wife. It was beautiful. Absolutely perfect. Then MJ was the cherry on top another person who rarely speaks publicly like this honored Kobe and it was just so amazing to see. Shaq again was another amazing standout in an incredible heartfelt ceremony for the ages. Jimmy Kimmel was an excellent host and Alicia Key rendition of Moonlight Sonata was absolutely beautiful. I have to literally decompress again from the emotional ceremony. Like many I don’t actually know Kobe but I’ve watched him grow up right here in my backyard over the years, the work ethic, attention to detail, fatherhood, and the mamba mentality resonates with me so much that this feels like a family member died.

It was a magnificent ceremony and Vanessa's speech was beautiful. The ceremony was a little bittersweet because, I would have loved to hear from his mother, father, and sisters or at least an acknowledgment of the people who introduced him to Basketball and without their support, love, and encouragement I doubt he would have been the legendary basketball player/guru we all love. His dad moved the family to Italy when he was six years old. He is fluent in Italian and Spanish. Without his dad being a ballplayer and wanting his family to have an empowering experience, deciding to take root in Reggio Calabria, then to Pistoia and Reggio Emilia, obviously had an effect on his overall character, he would be a very different person. For that, we should at least salute his Parents.
