Unearthing Treasures In England: Epic Adventure At The Rodney Cook Memorial Rally

This is the start of a small series of videos from my recent trip to England with the Garrett Metal Detector Team. We first attended the Rodney Cook Memorial Rally 2023. This is the first half-day of that rally and on the day we landed. We we all very tired from the flight over and lack of sleep. Although I didn't find much this day, I did get to see a few nice finds and enjoyed seeing many new and old friends.

Blyme, some good 'ol Blokes. I watch Nicola White's mudlarking channel and I've seen huge chunks of flint at the Thames Estuary. I wondered if it was because the were making gun flints there or if it was naturally there.

Probably hauled in there if it was on the river, but it's hard to say from here. They used it like bricks in construction and still do in places.

its crazy how much stuff the Romans left here, go just about anywhere and have a dig around and you'll turn up some pottery or a bit of tile or something. A lot of places the artifact layers are mixed because if there was a nice flat bit of land we probably ploughed the heck out of it at some point so yeah it can make for some interesting combinations of finds lol. Here's hoping you find a big ol' hole full of coins and brooches!

I hope you find a golden Saxon horde like that feller did in that farmer field while your here in England Bo. There’s actual real treasure out there in them there hills waiting to be found. Made that guy very rich but the historical discovery transcends the riches for me. You can go to Birmingham museum to look at the Staffordshire horde with loads of gold and precious stones. It’s truly inspiring for a metal detecters. Sold to Birmingham museum for £3.5 mil.
