I retired at aged 61. I never made more than 65k in a year. I saved, and lived very, VERY modestly, and accumulated enough wealth over time to retire. Let this be a lesson to all those Millenials. Save early, and often.

@@scm4you599 - My wife was a teacher that made more than I did. Coupled with my Air Force retirement, we did ok. Had about ten years where we made 150k+. Saved a decent chunk of it, about a third. 50k+ a year, for even a few years, compounds nicely. Sorry your life is such a sh!tshow.

I was let go at age 59 after 15 years in 2019, no explanation. The right to work state, you got to love them 🙄🤨. Then the pandemic hit. I'm 63 now, I would rather be a dish washer at this point to supplement my SS benefits. They would rather hire clueless younger people l guess. Thank goodness I don't have any family.

I’m also 62 and it’s nice to see I’m not the only one who finds delivering in the dark challenging. I’ve found that counting the little buildings from when I first turn on to the destination street on the gps helps. It sure can be a bit of a scavenger hunt at times with the house numbers missing, small or deteriorated. The struggle is real! Will be interested to see what kind of orders you get having reached platinum level with Uber. 😊

Hello 👋 thank you for your comments. Yes for sure. It’s really quite difficult finding addresses at night so I wrap things up by 4:30 pm. I usually start around 10:00 am or so and make about $500+ a week. In the summer I’ll be able to work much longer as it’ll be light out past 9:00 pm. I’m kind of dreading working for an employer now since I’ve not had to answer to anyone in 6 months lol Thank you again for commenting. I hope you come back and visit often. 🙏🙂

Once you're 55 and your employer thinks you are paid more than you're worth, you're gone. Then age discrimination takes over and the current work culture sees you as a problem. Getting a job is limited.

Indiana here, how you doing? I had a minor stroke, lost my job after 32 years, had another a month later and ended up in the hospital for 12 days. Not fun! Never been to the hospital. I was more worried about my dog being housed at the shelter than myself. After being back home since mid October I’ve cashed in my 401k and paid off my house. I’m looking to put some money back into a Roth until legal retirement. Didn’t have a lot but just enough where I should make it till 62. If I can’t work than I’ll be fine. Don’t ever give up! Prayers to you and everyone going through hard times. Love y’all!

I'm 70 and returned to work. I work 10 hour shifts part time for a neighbor who's 6 year old daughter had a near drowning accident and is on home mechanical ventilator and tube feedings. Parents provide care at nights and weekends, their insurance hires care during the week days so they can work. It's nice I can walk to their house and provide needed support when the agency can't find staff to cover the shifts. The agency is wanting to hire me full time, I'm not up for that again, 1-2 days a week is plenty unless this family needs me and I'll be there.
