11:28, that terrace used to be a familiar scene on Singapore TV in the 80s-90s. Every couple-talk scene was there… every single one of them. LOL. Couples used to date there before the era of internet. Haha!

I believe those balustrades are called bottle balustrades. Thanks very much for sharing. I’ve been enjoying subbing and following your vlogs for sometime. I’m British, but second generation Singaporean, and have been to Singapore quite a few times. I was myself surprised on one visit that Mount Faber doesn’t have more visitors, as it’s such a great place. To be fair, as your vlogs demonstrate, there’s so much else to see and do in Singapore. I’m enjoying being a fly on the wall, as opposed to a mosquito on the wall 😆

I did that trail the same way you did at about the same time you did. I foolishly started the Marang Trail at 12 noon. It was hot! I managed to walk to West Coast Park and that took me 4 hours. A leisurely walk.. The mounted binoculars are now free but I remember them costing 20 cents when I was a child. I had to pester my parents for the 20 cents and not always successful in getting it. I love the Henderson Waves (I can just about see my block from up there). It’s the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. If I bring my students on it, they aren’t as eager to walk as much and I use the elevation markings etched on the floor of the bridge to spur them on. The terrace is a great place for my students to take a short break before the treetop walk down. If you are there during the warmer months, the bougainvillea will be in full bloom and the whole place will be in beautiful purple. Pity you didn’t get to do the treetop walk though. It’s my favourite bit. I do wish NParks would make these closures more public or even at the start of walks. I have made my way to the Labrador boardwalk twice only to find it is closed.

Yes - the NParks are so good so it adds to the disappointment when it is closed! It’s such a beautiful trail - already looking forward to doing it again!

@@MelvinSimKH I used to stay at Blk 44, Telok Blangah Drive previously. We used to go up Mt Faber every day in the early morning as kids picking up cashiew from the cashiew trees which were abundant during my childhood days. It was a memorable experience tht hard to erase & replicated. Going up the trail from Alexandra was the most exciting & incredible journey tht brought bck all the good memories happening in tht area.

@@WONDERLUSTworld Ya i read recently they had to close the trail becoz of some damage to the land tht support the bridge & tht's y they to close the trail for some repair work. Anyway, hv you tried the Belayar Creek which is opposite the PSA building. The left handside of the creek used to be where my village site was situated just below the hill of the Keppel Golf Club which had been relocated elsewhere. It goes all to the way to the Harbour Front & where the Reflection condominium is. If you turn to the right it goes to the Labrador park. These areas are full of history & memories for those who used to stay in the kampungs during the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Good memories are hard to forget.

Some green spaces outside urban civilization in Singapore for you to consider exploring: Gangsa Trail / Track 15 off Mandai road Long trail from Bukit Timah Nature Reserve Catchment Path to (portion of) Pipeline Trail to Rifle Range Road / Rifle Range Link to MacRichie Reservoir north east If you don't mind meeting civilization on and off during your exploration, you might wanna consider: The entire Pipeline Trail from Marsiling to Pearls' Hill, walking beside/over the entire water pipelines fetching water from Johor to Singapore The 36+ km Coast-to-Coast (central) trail The 62+ km Coast-to-Coast (southern) trail, which has not been officially declared "ready/open" but nevertheless still "walkable" (I have tried walking so I know)

We did a bit, quite a bit, of that walk in 2015. The wood on Henderson Waves was a lighter colour then, obviously weathered since then. We also took photos of the ants, they were so big. I loved the glasshouses that were prototypes for Gardens by the Bay. I am still watching so not sure if you get there. Also loved the glimpses of some Black and White Houses. Thank you so much for doing this.

You came back to Singapore at the right time. With all the nature walks and trails in the ridges, Bukit Timah Hill, nature reserves and reservoirs, and parks and PCNs all over the island, and the outer islands. NParks has done a great job in recent years.

@@WONDERLUSTworld I get very exasperated when I read travel logs on KZbin by tourists. All they talk about are the hawker centres, malls and the tourist attractions in Orchard Rd and the Marina Bay area, and Sentosa. With the zoo thrown in sometimes. Singapore is so much more than that, as you have shown in your videos. Even in the city, there are the museums and the theatre, and all the history and heritage trails.

Loved this episode. Brought back memories of when I walked from Vivo through Mount Faber, across Henderson waves, and out the back of Hort Park and on through Kent ridges.
