Unexpected challenges on the dirt roads in the Freestate, South Africa [S1EP57]

Today we leave the beautiful farm just outside of lady brand and head back to the interesting dirt roads of the Freestate. We ride along the border with Lesotho for a while and even end up at the border post. After this the roads become more and more like farm tracks. There are some challenging parts where the roads are washed away and we discover that the Freestate has a major sand problem...! Werner also has a major challenge today as he is coming down with a very bad fever, sucking all his energy out…

Thanks Darryl, it was a hard day. Only realised that evening how bad the cold fever was but we got trough it. Those roads with the powder sand and lose rocks was really hard work. But hey one should just get to the other side 🤣 even if you look like a banana doing it! Haha! Hope you well!

Thanks Bennie, it was some of the worst roads we rode so far to be honest. The sand was like baby powder and man there was some very very long rocky sections. Werner really struggled on the rocks and sand with the fever draining his energy. It was a day of a lot of hard work!

Werner, ek voel soos jy oor die sand. Hulle sê jy moet spoed hê, en my brein wil dit nie aanvaar nie. Cissy het geen vrees nie!

Ja nee Willem! Daar is sand en dan is daar sand! Daai sand wat ons op die pad gekry het was soos baba poeier! Ja die ou se ding “ Lean back and trottle out” 🤣 dit is seker waar en verstaan die science agter dit maar ja. My brein wil dit ook nie doen nie haha! Maar eendag sal ek daar kom! Cissy is glad nie bang nie, vreesloos en gee net gas! Ek sien dit as “een” obstacle in n baie lang lys van obstacles maak nie saak hoe jy lyk nie kom net deur dit en gan an. Maar sal nice wees om sand lekker te kan ry.
