I apologize for the super loud music and difficulty in hearing in certain parts of the video. I didn’t realize that the sound was a problem until after I had already posted the video and the kids had gone to sleep and the house was quiet🤣 I also have looked to see if I can change the music volume after posting, but it appears that is not possible in the KZbin Studio editor. I am a total newby in video production and editing, this was my first ever attempt at anything like this so I know it wasn’t perfect, but I will keep working to improve my skills to make the videos more enjoyable to watch. My editing usually includes children making a lot of sound around me, which makes sound production difficult. But I learned my lesson that I need to have headphones on in a quiet environment to get the sound better, and I am watching sound production videos to better my skills. I’m so thankful the Lord had KZbin but your video in my suggested videos today! Dec 26, 2023! Homeschool Adoptive mom here! And I dreamed of a big family my entire life and though it grew for awhile it’s has shrunk, one married,one kinship placement went home, one foster to adopt ended after 15 months and one of our sons with severe special needs went to heaven in 2019. So for now just one special needs child at home. Financially adding more is not an optional but if our situation changes where we can feed more we will still want to add more. I’m looking forward to seeing where your family is now :)

I am so sorry that the music was so loud, it was my first time ever editing a video and I didn't realize that I needed headphones and a quiet room to get the music right- my sound mixing involved all my kids running around making a ton of precious sounds- I didn't realize the music was too loud until after I had already posted it:( It seems that I can not go back to edit the music volume after the video has been posted, so I think I might have to chalk this one up to a first video blooper regarding the music volume, but hopefully you won't find that to be a problem on all our other videos. I just read a news story about a couple here in the Nashville area that had one baby via surrogate and then delivered one within a couple of days of each other. I know it is a completely different set of circumstances but still it reminded me of your babies. Meredith and Clay McCord. It's a sweet story. And I am so sorry, that video was my first ever attempt at putting a video together with literally no experience- adding music to the video was the last thing I did after barely sleeping working through the night trying to finish the video. I got around to the final edit after the kids had woke up and they were all happy running around making lots of precious sounds and I didn't realize I needed headphones and a quiet space to get the sound right;))). I may repost our discussion sometime with no music, but it is too late for me to be able to change the mix on this particular video having already posted it. The only issue I have with this video is the music. I have hearing problems and I struggle to hear you speaking with the loud music in the backgrounds. I know a lot of hearing deficient people struggle with the same thing. You don’t need the music, we’re here to listen to your story 🥰

Your story reminds me of Sarah and Hannah from the Bible how Sarah was so old but God keep his promise and gave her and Abraham Issac and promised they would have more children then all the stars and how Hannah prayed for a male child and promised if God gave her this male child she would lend him to God all the days of his life Samuel was born to Hannah and as soon as she weaned him she sent him to live with Eli and God blessed her with many more children I don’t know why your all’s story reminds me of this but it is truly a blessing what God has done in your family may God continue to bless your family thank you for sharing this wonderful experience

I am a total newby in video production and editing, this was my first ever attempt at anything like this so I know it wasn’t perfect, but I will keep working to improve my skills to make the videos more enjoyable to watch. My editing usually includes children making a lot of sound around me, which makes sound production difficult. But I learned my lesson that I need to have headphones on in a quiet environment to get the sound better, and I am watching sound production videos to better my skills. would you please do a video on adoption through the foster care system? I have 5 bios and would love to add to my family, but I'm scared!!! There are so many rough stories out there and your family seems to have had such an easy adoption path. Any tips or pointers to where to start?

Hi Amy! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! We would love to do a video on adopting through the foster care system and Im sure we will at some point. But the difficult part is making the time for specific videos to sit down to film and edit when we have so much going on. Im already 5 videos deep trying to make time to edit them all, and so many other cool things going on that I don't even get to film. So one day Im sure we will make that videos, I just can't promise when. However, I will say that while adopting is certainly scary, if you and your husband are willing to go for it it is totally amazing! We are over 6 years into our journey since adopting and we are definitely in a groove with our kiddos now, but it was not all easy. However, through the difficulties, it has been totally worth it! I would start with taking a local class to become licensed adoptive parents. The class takes about 3 months (can also be fast tracked if needed, that's just how long our class took) and you will learn most of what you need to know. I hope that helps point you in the right direction and God bless you on your adventure! -Danny Bass

How do you tell the difference what God wants and what you want?

Hi divahc1, great question! A few things I consider to distinguish if a voice I am hearing is from God or from myself: Firstly, to know something that God would want, that something must align with what God tells us in His Word, the Bible. If I feel that God is telling me to do something, but that thing I feel that I am supposed to do is clearly not out of love for God and those around me, it is a self-driven desire. Secondly, if that something I am wanting to do is what God wants for me, my wife will have peace about my decisions and encourage said action. For example, I love to go surfing, and surfing is a beautiful activity that promotes health and connects me with God to be in His nature and creation. However, if my surfing is causing strife in the home because I am gone too much or I want to go at a time that is not good for my family, going surfing at that time is not what God would want because I would not be considering others as more important than myself nor would I be promoting peace in my marriage or home. For example, my wife encourages me to go surfing when the time is right, but years ago in 2012 when Hurricane Sandy was about to send in the swell of the decade, my wife told me that she did not want me to go due to the conditions and the fact that we had just moved to Palm Beach County, Florida and I had never been surfing here before and did not have any surfing buddies to go with me. But I told her I had to go. I snuck out of the house at 4am against her will, was at the beach waiting for the sun to rise, and paddled out at Reef Road on one of the best swells I have ever seen. Within a short time of being out, I got caught by a huge set of waves that broke my leash and left me way out to sea by myself in 15-20ft waves. I have surfed hurricanes most of my life, but this one almost drowned me trying to get back in fighting the current and waves. This was a "Jonah" experience for me where I felt that I had gone the wrong way, was swallowed in the ocean, but God mercifully spat me back out and I got home as quickly as I could to apologize to my wife and never again have I gone to do something I want without first having peace with my wife. Another example, our adoption- clearly adoption is in God's heart, caring for children in need- but if either myself or my wife did not feel peace about making that decision, I would say it would not have been of God for us to say yes. But because adoption is in God's heart and both my wife and I were excited to say yes, this was a clear sign to us that this opportunity was from God. That was a long response and I am writing this late at night after a long day, I hope it makes sense and helps to clarify! Take care and God bless! -Danny Bass

If you are feeling a nudge, or hear something in your spirit that is drawing you towards something, the test it, Jesus said to test it, if it works out, then hey you heard correctly, if not, then chalk it up as a lesson and move on towards the next time. The birth parents being on a road to recovery sounds like they are recovering addicts. What sort of law says they aren't allowed to keep their baby? So sad. I guess she wasn't taking drugs during the pregnancy?

However, out of love and respect for the birth parents we have chosen to not share their story publicly. We prefer to focus on the brave choice that they made to give their child a chance at life knowing that they would not be able to raise her. -Danny Bass
