Peppermint oil and used peppermint tea bags gets rid of mice. the smell of peppermint detars them for about two months... then reapply the oil or put down freshly used peppermint. tea bags. Put the oil across all of your thresholds. Line your whole room with it as well. And may be the kitchen floor and counters.* Just a quick tip😊😉

I completely understand this! My freshman or sophomore year of undergrad, I was living in on campus apartments and there was a mouse in my unit. I completely broke down crying, and felt the same way! Don't tell me I'm overdramatic! I shouldn't have to live with someone not paying rent. Also it's the principal of not being able to be comfortable in your own space. You can't truly relax. You obsess over your food and personal items and if they're safe. If it will attack you or find its way into your bed in the night... and for me personally a resolution being out of my control (traps hadn't worked and my RA and maintenance was AWFUL) made me feel so helpless and frustrated. I completely understand.

Hello Paige, you have me coughing, laughing and crying all at the same time. I am so sorry, I feel your pain. I don’t like mouse or rats or roaches. I have them every season in my apartment. I put mouse glue under my fridge, stove and washer. Also I don’t leave my food out on the counters. I put bread in the fridge. I also put my food in storage containers (clear ones). I would get containers for my food and bedding and shoes. I also like to use light color bedding, so if anything is crawling , I can see clearing. So I hope I was a little helpful to you. Try not to panic too much. My daughter is in her thirty’s and she still screams if she sees any thing crawls especially the creatures with those many legs. I hope you are able to catch it with the trap. There is a season and a reason for everything on this earth. Stay Blessed.🙏❤️🇺🇸

Glue traps don’t work. They will wiggle off. I had an experience with one clever mouse. The old mouse traps killed it. I’m guessing that the reason your school isn’t addressing the issue is that they have an infestation. They are probably trying to control it for the most part but know that it is a problem. There is never just one, especially in an old building. They have multiple babies.

@KatyAdelson5 жыл бұрын
I've lived through and beat a really bad mouse infestation. x_x it's no fun at all -- they chew up the house's insulation, get into food, and spread their toxic poop everywhere. Yuck! But I'd pick mice over bedbugs any day of the week -- so I'm super glad you don't have bedbugs to deal with! Ideally you wouldn't have any infestation, but I don't think mice infestations are as impossible to get rid of as other kinds of infestations. =) With the mouse traps, I'd put peanut butter in the middle of the sticky traps. He'll smell it and try to run over and eat it. Be prepared for other things to fall into the trap too -- I've had moths get stuck in them. Their fluttering startled me until I realized it was just a few poor moths... Also, be prepared that sticky traps are kind of scary/upsetting when you do catch something. The mouse is literally alive and struggles while stuck to the sticky trap until he dies.... It's a sad sight... =( If you can find the wooden-base snapping mousetraps, hot glue a peanut onto the trigger when you set it up -- it works really really well.

You can get a so called human trap its enclosed and you put a little piece of bread with peanut butter on it inside. Its kind of bent in the middle and when the mouse goes inside it tips up and the door closes. You can either shake the mouse out somewhere else or leave it inside to die. Just open the door and tip it out after you decide. Not sure why they call it a humane trap lol But they work. You will still need to find out how it got inside though. I would trap it and do what everyone suggests. Find the hole, put steel wool in it. Put peppermint oil all over the place and get a plug in and put a strip of something at the bottom of your door.

I hate to say this but there really isn't gonna be just the one in the building. I used to work for a student accommodation company and many of their older buildings had infestations. Unfortunately it wasn't really taken seriously when people like you and I were on the verge of a breakdown. It might sound funny but my friend had to go for therapy because she was afraid to go home and cried for weeks. You can get these plug in electronic devices that apparently deter them from entering but I don't know how effective they are... might be worth a try. I've always avoided ground or lower floor flats because of this fear. My advice; get a room in a high rise building and head for a floor close to the sky to try and avoid them!

If you are still having a mouse issue, there is a B&Q and Wickes near ASDA in Greenwich, both will sell traps, I believe B&Q even sell contained units that keep the dead mouse out of sight. Peanut butter is the best bait choice. but I wouldn't worry too much, mice in the UK usually are very timid and shy I used to just scoop them up bare handed when the cat used to bring them home and they never even tried to bite me, they just freeze in fear.

@RoseAngella5 жыл бұрын
I hope you catch that rodent. You can buy online an electronic rodent trap. It zaps them dead as they run through it. Also buy some steel wool from hardware store, B&Q has them about £4 to £5 the rough variety, and unroll it and make like a draft excluder band along the base of door. For good measure get a spatula or blunt knife and push the steel wool under door so there’s no gap for the little blighters to get through. I have a length of steel wool on both sides of my bedroom door. Every time I go out I make sure I seal my room pushing it all securely in the gap. Steel wool acts as a deterrent as mice don’t like to gnaw the steel it hurts them. I’ve had steel wool border for years it gives me a sense of security and if the band is moved, well I know I’m in trouble. 😏 Please let us know if you catch it. 💚❤️💜

I completely understand where you're coming from with seeing a distant relative of Mickey and Minnie mouse. I saw a mouse in the cupboard above my stove a couple years ago. I ran out of my house like I was running the 2O0m relay in the Olympics and told the person in was on the phone with I had to let him go ans ran out of my house, downstairs and got my neighbor and on the way back up to my unit, I was on the phone with an exterminatior. I was getting ready to go of town for the weekend with my sister the next day. By the time I came back.upstairs, it was gone. There was work being done on the main thoroughfare street and when their habitat is disturbed, those vermin scatter. The mouse chewed through the drywall in the cabinet. The next day, the exterminator came and put mesh on the two holes🕳. Mickey and Minnie's cousin cane in from one side and exited from the other. Haven't seen one since..

unfortunately mice infestation is a huge problem here in London. I live in a cheaper student accommodation in New Cross and luckily we don't have mice because someone comes in and puts out our garbage and cleans the kitchen surfaces from mon-fri, and we all try to keep the area clean out of consideration for others. The more expensive accommodation across the street has a problem because people leave food out, dirty dishes and filthy surfaces. If you can get your fellow flatmates to keep the common areas tidy, that would be helpful.

Mouse traps are fine, but what you want is to keep them from coming in. I knew someone who lived in an apartment building filled with rodents. Nevertheless, not one single mouse ever entered her apartment after she discovered the first one. She looked for the hole. Instead of running from the thing, she watched where it ran. Then she got steel wool to make sure it didn’t come back in. The steel wool is cheap and it cuts their mouth when they try to chew it. Remember, mice traps are nice but you can’t kill the mouse population. Instead, keep them out. I’m terrified of them by the way.
