Unexpected Water Skier, Morning Walk to Marine Stadium

On my daily walk I was surprised to see a water skier doing at least 10 laps at Marine Stadium. My guess is she is prepping for the Catalina Race, Which will be the 74th Catalina Ski Race this July. It's a woman, The race has about one hundred entrants... About 25-30 complete it.. It leaves from Long Beach, and is a round trip to Catalina Island. Which is about 55-60 miles, the winner does it in 53 or so minutes... Seeing the boat with 177 painted on the side, I looked up the Boat on past race results, and seems to be the Furgeson family, they have raced in the last 5 years. Why are they competing in the race? What challenges have they faced? This is a great location for skiers training with smoother water and it's about a mile long. As the video progresses, we will follow the skier to the Marine Stadium and witness their pre-race preparations. Later this year we will get to the exciting race and highlight any surprises that may happen. To see the skiers perform, and what will be the ultimate outcome?
