Locked deep in the Luxembourgian forest we found a charming abandoned cabin that has been left behind for almost a decade. It once used to belong to a fairly large Flemish family that used it as their Holiday getaway, but for some reason, they decided to never visit their holiday home ever again. On their last visit, they seemingly left everything behind, the drinks are still in the fridge, their shoes are still in front of the fireplace, and they even forgot to take their jackets before they left. This mysterious disappearance has been unsolved until this very day, today we will go inside and try to figure out together what happened in this place…

I'm surprised you didn't know what a four leaf clover is and what it means... it's considered a lucky charm

The big first fireplace was used for grilling -- see the grill shelves? Used for cooking in the old days. The creek would have been used in the winter as a refrigerator for milk and frozen meats to keep all winter without having to salt and cure the meat. They would have dug a little cave to the side of the creek, lined it with straw, and then with ice from the edges of the creek. Didn't float the meat or milk containers, etc. in the icy cold water itself. The reason why so much clothing and shoes are left is because these items were only used at this particular property and were kept here all the time to lessen travel luggage to and from here. Same with their personal items. Left here year round. I love the lace curtains. I love all the different chairs around the kitchen table. The items in this house may not have been heirloons of the family but antiques bought to decorate their country vacation/hunting lodge house. I think that 2 families, perhaps the families of 2 siblings would meet here for family get-togethers. This is typical of larger families. I like all the wood stoves. There is no more comfortable heat than wood heat and the smell of hard woods like hickory burning.

These videos are very sad to me. It's like preserved memories of times past and everyone's gone. 😭 What a beautiful piece of property. They lived so simply, but perfectly fine. I'd love to live somewhere like this and fix it up. Great video and I respect how respectful you are towards these people's belongings even though they're gone.

Walking up to the property, listening to the sound of water from that beautiful small creek in front of that beautiful simple home is the best! The findings in the home are just wonderful, especially the drawings from the children. The question will always be there, what happened to the family and why did they leave everything behind? Thanks for taking us on another wonderful journey through this once beautiful home..stay safe healthy and blessed! From Southern California ☀️

This picture literary stopped my heart. What a sad sight to see! Those beautiful beds that once had been the cozy, comfortable spots of love and restfulness for those long forgotten people of the house, are now been subjected to decay, ignorance, and forgetfulness! Nothing remains the same except the ephemeral nature of life. After all, that is what life is, isn't that so?

How can a heart stop "literary"? And if it stopped, how did you survive?
@orchid3457
@orchid3457 2 жыл бұрын
@@1959Berre I am sorry I've made a mistake. I meant to say 'literally' not literary. Anyway, to say 'heart stopped' doesn't always mean that someone's heart really stopped and that person doesn't survive anymore. It's a very common poetical term to express a deep sorrow that suddenly rises within somebody's heart. I wonder why you haven't heard the term before.

Bess you Leslie for this fascinating video. Incredible story from out of the past. Wow, 16 beds. I think the dining room table was probably to small for all. The ceiling's were so short. This place would give me claustrophobia. The very best part about this video was the stream in front of the home and the beautiful music it made. Imagine waking every morning to that sound. It would be lovely.

Ohh really what an amazing place! With all those shedding trees, that mountain range behind, that creek or inlet whatever we call it, in short whole scenario held me spellbound. I'd love to live in such a place with nature as my neighbour, such a heartwarming milieu. And those antique pieces of furniture, specially three tier vintage stove, I don't have much idea about all these, but from your videos I learned about various furniture, so from that little knowledge I can say for sure I've never seen anything like that before. Here's a confession- I'm literally grateful to you for enriching my knowledge about different cultures and definitely their belongings. I truly feel blessed to have accidentally found out your channel. The black coat just beside the door in upstair bathroom seemed like someone was standing there 😄😄😄😄 Little kitchen, that small living room, so many beds,walking sticks at one side and toys of children on the other side, sewing machines .... it's like memories from people aged from 8 to 80 are scattered all around. The most scary part was when your friend Luka was about to fell and another one was when peel off paint got into your eyes. I know you guys are always careful, still be more careful. And when floor is covered with something, you should always check before stepping on to it. Take care. Be more careful. Stay blessed, happy and healthy. 👍👍😇😇🙏🙏

The first thing I thought when you showed the stream and the house together was that the house was too close to the stream. One overflo in the spring and as we saw and two a flooded basement. I can think of reasons other than deaths why they walked away from it. The two above are enough but others also. However, I did like the place and it had been well used I think. There are still other houses close by I think I saw some as you walked up to the house. So the area is not necessarily in the middle of nowhere. You still are so much fun to watch Lesley. We miss Jordy but glad to still have you. The old lady in Vermont.

So grateful everyone was ok. I love all of your adventures! I would love to do the adventures with you but I know you hear that all the time. Ever since I was child I was always curious and would venture into empty places. I could never get anyone to go with me and now I’m too old but if it looked safe enough I would still try. People think I’m crazy. Thanks to brave people like you and others I can live vicariously through you. Thank you for sharing. You do such a fantastic job and are so respectful of all the properties. Such a sad story, I really wonder why they did abandon this place! At 22:59 minutes in, I was a little creeped out-those stains on the bed is *hopefully* just moisture, but it really looks like someone has been laying there bleeding! Glad your friend is OK after falling through the floor! I almost fell down into a basement once while exploring an abandoned house together with a friend, I was crossing a floor with a plastic floor mat covering, but what I didn't know was that the floor was totally rotten (old plywood) and wet underneath, so I fell through! But thankfully my feet found some solid ground when I had sunk to about the level of my waist. I was not hurt, but it was a reminder that floors are not always as solid as they look! (I personally ended up laughing so much I could hardly make it out of the hole, because my friend came running when he heard the crash, and got so scared when he saw me that he screamed and nearly tumbled backwards. I just said "no, I'm all right, but get out of here, the floor is rotten!" I didn't have to ask him twice!)

The leaf is a four leaf clover a sign of good luck 🍀 after seeing all the beds maybe this was a holiday home for the whole family. A very cool explore. That fast train was not that loud. The stoves were awesome, the pots on each one was for water to put humidity back in the room as wood heat drys the skin and sinuses in the winter. 3 singer sewing machines , maybe they sewed for a living, and the father and sons were hunters to feed the large family. Leslie what did you think they did for a living?

I have an old vanity set that actually came with a chest of drawers and poster bed to match from my father as wedding gift 34 years ago and it was an antique then. My father was an antique dealer. They are so much stronger made back then!
