I absolutely loved this video. Just people being real, having heart to heart conversations while doing something they both enjoy. Last summer my father and I both got back into motorcycling, and this reminds me a lot of the talks we have on those rides. There's no pressure to talk to fill the air, but there's as much room for conversation as you'd like. The last ride we had last season, he said how much he loved those rides and how he was sad his dad never rode with him (even though they both rode motorcycles). So thank you :)

It’s great when you ride together! You always have good conversations. Everyone needs to raise themselves in a way. Even with the perfect parents you need to find your own way.

its weird how sometimes your hear someone speak of something in their family dynamic growing up and it totally resonates with you because you can relate a lot and never knew how to express it in words... thank you for this ... the father figure role is dang near what I went thru but had a much older brother vs sister's boyfriends... great vid guys 🤘

I was pretty lucky as a kid with adhd. I definitely got into my share of dumb shit before actually developing mentally deep into my 20’s. My dad was supportive of me skateboarding and took me and my friends to all the skate spots and parks. But he definitely has a masculinity mentality but without being masculine himself. It was more saying what his dad would tell him his whole life. My mom was the supportive empath that you could talk too. So I almost went down the wrong path being the person my dad told me what men should be like. But the values my mom taught me made me realize that wasn’t the way to be. But I was also really accepting of women in things that get associated more with men. So when I’d see guys trying to chase women out of skateboarding, racing, football, motorcycles. It just made me mad. Then just the mental growth I had in my late 20’s I found out what toxic masculinity is and just found it disgusting. You can be masculine without punching down.

Great conversation you two. I believe that things come to you when they’re supposed to and definitely took me until my mid thirties to really start figuring out the world in any sort of meaningful way and now enjoy MUCH richer life experiences. Now diving headfirst into Terrence McKenna and Alan Watts to push my understanding further. What an exciting ride this crazy life is! Also- that oddball Juke is the correct answer. Nissan made a Nismo RS trim from ‘14-‘17 that made 215hp and 210 massive torgos. Sounds like a blast.

As an older generation X person, my parents, as a rural farm family, treated me as property and free farm labor… Thank god when they lost the farm. Still dirt poor… the generational lack of money and wealth is a poison in our society…

This was a really cool change of pace. One of my good friends saw a Jim Henson special as a kid with a metal song written by Paul Williams and then spent the next decade of their childhood for a sound as heavy!

Fun fact, the nissan juke was styled to "look like a motorcycle". I don't think Nissan has a great styling department, and that their good looking cars happened in spite of their best efforts.

fascinating conversation and timely for my life. I'm an expecting parent who is actively trying to parent myself. my upbringing was devoid of masculinity and I too have come to motorcycles to scratch that itch. admittedly a former lacrosse player and listener of chill indie rock...still love y'alls perspective. maybe it is high time I do shrooms and listen to Metallica.

Something I talk about often on my podcast.. being your own parent! It’s such an important marker to hit as this new generation comes to fruition. We must become the grounding, emotional nexus for our kids.

My dad is ex military. At times he could be pretty hyper masculine, yet other times I'd come home from school or a friend's house and see his girlfriend painting his toenails. I think men enforce certain codes of dress, speech, behavior, etc. on each other more than anyone else. The older I get, the less I care how I'm perceived by others, and the freer I feel to be as masculine or un masculine as I want to be.

Juke was at least a reliable, fun to drive, small crossover that made really good power and handled pretty damn well for what it was....

More guys need to talk about this, but we're all so scared to actually admit feelings that aren't "i'm awesome, i'm man, i'm the best" because that's weakness and people will prey on weakness. I've only started to realize the past couple years that all that hyper masculine things are such bullshit, you can be protective of things that are important, but trying to dominate others at any cost is what's wrong with all of us who think that's the only way to live. I even went into the airborne infantry because I thought it was going to prove that I'm manly and can be great, but it ended up making me feel ashamed for not killing while over seas, how fucked up is that, but that's normal there. Now I realize how much more manly it is to lift people up instead of knocking them down and that I'm not weak for wanting to do that, such an eye opening thing to realize.

Yeah, I feel that. Mine was such a fuggin pain in the butt for the brief moment I was a parent before he died. I remember staring at my newborn and calling my dad and asking “how the f#%k could you abandon us?”. It was so unfathomable to do to something so innocent. He replied that he had no excuse. Here’s to being our own dads 🍻

Meh, I really don't give a shit about cars. If I needed one and got a deal on a used Juke, sure whatever. It has wheels, carries me and my crap around, I don't really care about anything else.
