The type of creative work that you do for you, Id argue, is the most important. Its the essence of creativity and spontaneity when we create for no other reason than the joy of it.

The Polish designs come from restrictions during the socialist era. Fine artists weren't allowed to have their own exhibitions in galleries so they displayed their work through movie and event posters where they were free to make whatever they wanted. Very cool!

Your comment about needing to travel for inspiration is so true. I'm an inhouse designer so my work can get pretty mundane - and when you work in advertising, you can really see through advertisement "tricks" and get really sick of looking at it. Last year I went to South Korea and was just blown away by how cute and poppy their stuff was, how differnetly you can treat typography that isn't in english letter forms. Really inspiring stuff. Also everything had a character/mascot which was also endearing. Made me exciteted to come back home and 'korea-ify' some of my stuff.

I sit criss cross on my bed with headphones on a Macbook . I've started exercise for posture related reasons. I would love to eventually work with a mac desktop, standing desk sounds great, and a large drawing tablet.

Dude I remember being unemployed after I had just graduated and watching you was such a comfort! I felt connected to a design career even in a space where I didn’t have one of my own. Just knowing and understanding there’s a world beyond my reality. Never stop the grind Jesse, you’re a G! anyways, I use an m1 MacBook Air right now? I thought I’d have to replace it soon just wanted to be back on MacOS after having to give back my MacBook from my previous job (i hate designing on a windows 🙈) but daaaamn, the m chips are crazy!!! i mainly do design in figma and framer so I don’t need an insane amount of power so this is the perfect machine for me!

Hi Jesse, I just found your videos a few weeks ago and really appreciate these slow talks! I especially relate to the designer vs creator dilemma. I’m a painter and I’ve been making videos for 2 years now, I love both and painting will always be my first love, but WOW do they both take lots of time. It’s like you’re constantly balancing, especially when client work also comes along.Anyway, appreciate your videos!

Cool video intro. I thought you were gonna do the large caption all the way through lol. Recently set up a new work space that I like a lot. It's a floor desk with a floor chair. My MacBook is on a stand on the table and I have a separate keyboard that I use. Kinda like a desktop setup but without being bound. Then I have a corner with a chaise lounge chair where I sit with my lap desk if I wanna switch it up. I don't have room for a large desk right now, so this is perfect. Something about sitting on the floor is zen and fun and makes me more aware of posture. Cool video! More like this! Peace.

I’m thinking a cool logo could be one of those plastic or resin rocks from the indoors rock climbing places with a screw in the middle. Maybe you can make the first letter of your second last name with it and then write the rest next to it in a Patagonia looking font.

To answer your computer question: I have an 11 year old desktop (32 gb of DDR3 and a RTX 2070 and some old Intel CPU) and a new M2 MacBook pro. I just started online graphic design school in the fall of last year. I rock two acer 27 inch 2k monitors for both setups. I basically have two desks in my house. I also have a degree in video game design, so I've been getting into 3D modeling again now that I am in school for graphic design. I wanna work on bringing 3D into my graphic design work somehow. Both computers work really well. I plan on going to coffee shops and doing some modeling and rendering with it bc I know it can handle it. When it comes to computers I found you just gotta get what you want. People get pretty polarizing over what you should and shouldn't get when you get a computer. I can say I have both windows and mac and they perform well.

Working on a pc set up st home, duel monitors. Pc route for gaming and designing. Just left my Mac last year so still getting used to the switch. Personally dislike Microsoft as a whole very much 😂 but can't game on apple no matter how hard I tried (even tried the blocked off method but no game-literally.) I have pc at work (graphic designer) too. I work on ipad for my tablet and digital drawing tho for procreate. I was thinking of moving to the surface tho when its time to upgrade. Anyone have that?

I'm a huge Yorgos Lanthimos fan, and the typography inside of the movies is just as impressive. The end credits after poor things are super creative in mixing that hand drawn style with the names and departments, the favourite also has really cool titles between each part that fit in with the style and narrative really well. Love to see the combination of the two mediums, hope more directors follow suit.

Cuesta is a really good word for that. In spanish means slope (so cool if you can relate it with the climbing) and what you meant. So, "Me cuesta mucho subir las escaleras" Its really hard for me to go up the stairs. Sooooo :) I guess you can come up with an amazing idea.

Working from home on a custom built pc right now mainly for 3D work and video editing, but I’ve been feeling the same way about wanting to be more mobile. It would be so nice to pull up to a coffee shop or outdoor seating area and just take in the world around me while I get work done. Definitely considering a MacBook setup soon. Macbook Pro M2 Max is where it's at!!! Still have the studio at home to do 3D, Rendering and XXL file workflow. -If you're buying new, regardless of the M3 chip hierarchy and memory, a Macbook Pro would run circles around your largest PSB file. -If you're buying an older model (used/new) I would stick with an M2 Macbook pro with 8gb of memory and you'd still be able to dull out dirtnaps with your Hardcore Alphabet Series project as well as massive psb files. *Side note - That Rotting Out album was my favorite of your series so far. Jivebomb & Have Heart were close seconds!!! Great work! Keep it up!
