I definitely resonate with the feeling on being scared to use my design for social causes but I love how you broke down how useful it is, and how others may find comfort in the support

That first question made me feel so much better about aiming to be a solid generalist and niche down later when I feel like it. Thank you for that vote of confidence!

Enjoyed hearing your thoughts! I have been grappling a lot lately with feeling like I’m just feeding corporate consumerism as a designer and not actually helping anyone with my skills, it’s really made me question my career path even though I love graphic design. You being able to find a way to make money and feel fulfilled has made me feel hopeful today, so thanks for that 😊🙏🏼

Love these types of videos, I usually talk to many editors where we talk about the same topics, while not all of us are graphic designers, we all have the common ideas/thoughts about the design world- if that makes sense... lmaoo I've also fallen under the same trap of "I'm only do projects for this amount,.." but at the same time, I always get told by MANY people to keep charging more and not spend time on projects that don't produce enough revenue.. I think that the importance of passion projects is a HUGE thing, I personally have this account, on socials where I just make edits for fun (brings in clients surprisingly), but I still do client work on the side - Editing and Graphic Design. - Love the content, I've been watching for awhile, keep it up :)

"When you can create anything it might as well be nothing" - this really resonated with me because I often find myself in this state which unfortunately leads to a lack of motivation in creating. However, I've started changing my habits and following the "No zero days" idea which I think has been helpful for me! I've been going out with my friends a lot recently and thought it might be fun to come up with mock event flyers for our upcoming hangouts. We like to grab coffee often so I'm making cool little graphic posters themed around that. Haha it is kinda goofy and sort of inside-jokey but I'm creating something that is cool to me while also being super relatable and fun! And who says I can't make some adjustments that make them portfolio-eligible!

I love making posters for bands and songs on albums. I did 3 posters for The Acacia Atrains newest albums. I'd love to do one for each song

For designing series, I did some posters sets for this kpop band I like. One vibe/layout per album, then one poster per song. It's an interesting challenge thinking of designs flexible enough to do for multiple things, but it's been fun!

Your thoughts on AI are interesting, I use it, mostly to blend my existing work to create new designs, and very rarely as a text to image function. I find that 90% of it, especially where it includes people looks the same. It's like some weird universe where the same characters exist in different guises. I think AI vs traditional will battle it out for a year or two and then it will come full circle and trad art will be the higher valued for the scarcity in an over saturated space.

I took inspiration recently from your hardcore alphabet series and I am doing a series of album redesigns for CD's including front, back,cd, and inside pamphlet! I also have an appreciation for hardcore and Grunge, so I'm doing redesigns of albums from Narrowhead, Titlefight, Fleshwater, Sunami, Suburban Scum, Magnitude, and more... I mess with the difference and similarities between the two genres so Im hoping my covers can reflect that. :) Appreciate this vid mane!

How is business? On the freelance end? ( ps I haven't watched any of your unfiltered thoughts vids, but have caught a few of your other videos in the past which have been helpful. I current feel like too many creators are trying to get my attention and its turning me off of everything) - From a freelance artist who wishes he could get consistent business through means of not using social media and not having to apply for the opportunity fund artistic endeavours twice a month on the off chance that one will stick

I’m definitely stuck in the realm of what is my identity because I love design and illustration, which creates more opportunities for creating content, but I always feel left unsettled because I feel like an imposter 🫣

Don't feel like that. Every idea you have, put it out there. Do it the best you can and do everything that's personal to you. You never know who is watching and great opportunities come to those who believe in themselves. All you need to do is to trust your own vision. You will never regreat.
