In this episode of Bharat Ek Khoj, we landed in Jammu & Kashmir's Budgam District and explored the shadowed landscapes through the region. We encountered the most generous & hospitable people in the valley who, on the contrary, are struggling every day to provide for themselves.
The residents of Budgam District talked about the increased unemployment rate, school dropouts & security situation. We came across multiple villages in the district and experienced how the situation differs, but the struggles remain constant.
From being the Heaven on Earth to how far it is from an actual 'Haven', is what we have documented in this video.

My village also has a similar story. We also collect money for transformers. We also don't have electric poles we use bamboo poles made by people. Per day wage 200 - 300. No oppertunity. At least Kashmir has some space on TV, media but we have that luxury also. I'm from jharkhand a place between West Bengal, Bihar, orisha, Assam & chhitsgarh. In the rainy season there was no electricity for 2 months. Privious year 6 months no electricity.

The successive central govts released large funds to improve life of people in Kashmir but Mufti and Abdulla families ruling there for decades siphoned off public welfare money. Govt today has allocated sizable funds and tangibles difference is already seen. Of course lot more to be done just like any other states of India who still have massive poverty.

In fact Kashmir is enjoying dispropotionately high fund allocations perhaps for reasons, but there are many poor states with much larger area and population who require higher allocation of funds. When couple of such poor states of Bihar and UP got higher funds in this years budget, very same people were crying foul.

Everything fine?" 5:38 we always offer tea to EVERYONE who comes around at tea time 15:53 sadly, he isn't lying here. 19:58 the solar was given to a few people like a looooong time ago, maybe during ny grandfathers time. And maybe a few years ago. It suffices barely for even basic needs. 22:55 this is a very real problem, there are many excellent schools in kashmir. The only problem is theyre all in srinagar. And the classes elsewhere are STUFFED with kids. 23:59 child marraige is very real, but only in really rural villages like the one shown here 27:27 the point made is extremely important and many kashmiris hold the same beliefs 31:42 "It should be heaven for everybody" Thank you to the team for bringing such a raw masterpiece to the public eye

I'm from srinagar & have been working in the FMCG sector for a bit now. To say kashmir is under financial stress is an understatement. Thank-you Samdish for shooting this eye opener for non kashmir's to see. I hope you make a video in srinagar, talk with labours, kiryana shop wala's to get an idea how bad it is here. We are living in an imperfect democracy and it's not a crime to be political and have political opnions and propogate them. No one is against protests but they shouldn't be violent and not seek unrealistic demands like that farmer protest and CAA. i dont think bjp is a right wing party the amount of socialism they do they should rename themseleves as bhartiya samajvadi party.
