I love your channel Mel & you do a great job with it. An 80+Km round trip is a huge trip though & you would have been better launching from Port Hacking if plannjng to fish Stanwell. It was a wise decision to wear your life jacket but I would also recommend that you ALWAYS wear a PLB (Personal GPS) on a belt that you can also hang a knife off as well. As you said yourself things can happen fast when out at sea especially when fishing alone. As a Master Mariner myself I always do this.

They are mate. Cut the head off, then steam the whole fish. Once cold, de-bone and make prawn cocktails with lettuce and seafood sauce. Poor man’s lobster.

Hi Mel what a awesome adventure , that was a cracking days fishing , you’ve got to be stoked with you’re catch , it’s got me hanging to get out for a fish , and thinking of upgrading my old fish finder , so I can find more grounds and get a better picture of the areas I fish ,we have a snapper ban over here I think it’s for another couple years so , I’ve got a bit of time to save up and learn to use a new sounder with down view and sideview and hopefully find some snapper and get some keepers when the ban is lifted ,another great vid thanks ps ,I would owe the swear jar my next months pay if I had a great day like that

@@spikesfishing thanks for the reply Mel , I was looking at one but it doesn’t have cmap or is it compatible so I might have to go another brand there is a couple of choices i,m thinking about , so can you look at the map and structure and put a way point in when you’re miles away from that reef or structure is it hard to do , thanks again for you’re reply much appreciated

@@MickCotton-g3x bugger hopefully you can find one that’s compatible. Nothing better than seeing the structure scan. Another option is overlaying the structure scan on the navionics app. I use this too, research new areas and then mark them on the sounder when I next go fishing, it’s relatively cheap too 👍🏽
