Noah Lyles just won the #100meter dash at the Olympic Trials for USATF. He has been the fastest #sprinting athlete in #trackandfield for years now. But how fast do you need to run in high school track and field, to one day be the best in the world?

Oh geez, get a grip people, y’all are haters. Only the elite can make the Olympic team. If you don’t have it, don’t hate those that do. I’ve been watching the Olympics for five decades, not to mention , a lot of elite runners. It’s all about hard work and who’s able to bring it at the moment. So don’t hate those that are blessed.

@Blacknight200 no track athlete is taking trenbolone buddy. That's like literally the worst possible steroid to take to get better at running. He'd be huffing and puffing just trying to walk around. Literally any other steroid would be a better choice. Tren is also detectable in your system for like 9 months. They can take fingernail samples and get really accurate reading for like 9 months and see exactly how much you were exposed to

Coach Rob, I have a question that only an expert like you can answer. It doesn't look like Noah Lyles nor anyone else in Paris 2024 has a chance of beating Usain Bolt's 100m 9.58 or his 200m 19.19 world records. Why? It's my own uneducated guess that Usain Bolt's body, like Michael Phelps's in swimming, is a freak of nature. There are many tall and powerful runners, but none of these runners have the fast twitch muscles and stamina of Usain Bolt. Noah Lyles has fast twitch muscles that match Usain Bolt's but Noah isn't as tall and powerful. Noah is running at the upper limits of what his body allows, the fastest runner in the world currently, but handicapped by his body and therefore won't break any world records. Usain Bolt won the genetic lottery. Yes, it takes exceedingly hard work to break world records but a body like Usain Bolt's is born once in a lifetime. Runners with bodies like Noah Lyles and Carl Lewis, though rare and able to win Olympic Gold, are more common. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@SCATrackandField
@SCATrackandField Күн бұрын
Thanks for asking. As well as your thoughtful comment. I hesitate to explain Bolt’s dominance as primarily a byproduct of his genetics. He was a special talent who also read the sprinting textbooks. We could even argue he was a natural sprinter, perhaps. Noah Lyles is also a special talent today. But there are limits to what the human body is capable of. I don’t believe anyone will ever run 9 seconds for example. So world record chasing will get harder as we get closer to the limits of possibility. Someone will eventually catch Bolt. Even if Noah isn’t the one to do it. But if they do it won’t be by much I would guess. The advancements that we have made in technology and training or allowing younger athletes to perform at a higher level than they ever have. But the best pros are still dealing with the same limitations. It explains why all the youth and junior records are falling in this era. But world records are still few and far between.

@@SCATrackandField Of course, as I said, part of Usain Bolt's success is because of his exceedingly hard work. It feels to me also that we've reached some kind of barrier to new world records, not in long distance running, but in the sprint events. I too don't think anyone will run a sub 9 second 100 meter anytime soon. I bet, however, that within the next 30 years someone will run under 9 seconds. How? With CRISPR and genetic mutations. CRISPR will make people smarter and run faster. CRISPR will create superhumans but it's a scary path forward. Countless people, "test subjects" will be "sacrificed" in the process. Though international laws prevent genetic experimentation on humans, I bet China is already way ahead of the curve. In 30 years, Americans and Jamaicans won't be breaking world records, the Chinese will. It will be a Chinese man who will be the first to run a sub-9 second 100 meter race. This path forward is inevitable... if we don't blow ourselves up first.
