I've only read the first Calpurnia Tate but it was such a surprise! It was funny with great characterization. Great family dynamics and a unique (and not so annoying) take on the "not like other girls" trope. I love how she admitted that she probably wasn't good at "feminine tasks" because she didn't bother to try. Just stuff like that was really great. I hope I like the next one.

I’ve read Ghost Boys & Some Kind of Happiness. I think you would like both. Ghost Boys is a contemporary story with a connection to Emmett Till. Some of Kind of Happiness deals with depression. Both well written.

I love The Land of Elyon series by Patrick Carman. I actually re-read the complete series every few years. A great middle grade fantasy series.

I love ghost boys that is one of my favorite middle grade books ever and what I love about it that it shows kids that history tends to repeat it self if we decide not to change it and it show that with when Emmett till talking about when he got murdered and with another ghost that happened before the main character talked about his accidentle murder as well and then you get to see how much bigger the problem actually is by the end of the book .
