Unhauling 100 books

Book Unhauls can be very therapeutic. I love seeing and hearing what no longer serves for person. I have been doing that a lot this last six months (on top still collecting them lol). And my mum and I are moving in February/March, so, more books got to go. I love seeing how you rate the process in unhauling! We are so similar, though, I do love me my spy/govt/police thrillers/mysteries.

So true! Moving is the perfect motivator too. It surprisingly feels good to get rid of some of these books. I have been doing this same kind of thing with pretty much everything in my house. We have far too much stuff.

When I unhaul books I donate them to be in a charity auction for various animal shelters. That is my favorite way of buying books as well. :)

Aww, that is so great! I plan on using most of the books for my Little Free Library that I am getting, but some of the nicer newer ones are going to be used for my Blind Date with a Book option for my wine level Ko-Fi patrons.

I love watching book unhauls, and why people get rid of the books they do is so interesting to me. I've been dying to read Oasis ever since I came across it on Goodreads! I haven't heard of a lot of these, but man some of these titles were so off the wall--i love it🤣

I chuckled watching you with your Cat Lady tshirt and your 65-lb lap dog. I read Her Fearful Symmetry and I would have rated it higher than it's showing on Goodreads. It's not as good as The Time Traveler's Wife, but it is good - I like the highly unusual twist - and also haunting (not spooky).

I have such a hard time letting go of books. I am currently reorganizing and plan to unhaul some books I have had for over 15 years and still haven't read. I actually really like Iris Johansen and am currently working on collecting her blacklist of books. Firestorm is one I still need. I don't take ratings too seriously as individual taste is so varied, so some of these I would have kept and tried. Though I do understand why you unhauled them.

Yeah, it is hard, and I found myself several times thinking "well maybe I should give that a chance" but then I remember that I don't have as much room available in my new house. There are several more unhauls coming too because I would film them once I had a good chunk ready to go.

I am very much the same way! It's always hard for me too. I have space constraints. And a bit of a book buying problem. My mum calls me out on it all the damn time. Shhh mum! lol. I am with you on the ratings. I tend to ignore them. If it sounds good to me, I will read it. Eventually. Unless I don't have any interest anymore. Bookworms and their internal struggles.

@@corriesbooknook the struggle is real! I hit up a lot of thriftstores so always buy more books than I would if they were full price. Never enough space for them all.

@@corriesbooknook If I could keep them all, I would. I don't normally pay attention to ratings until after I have already read and rated the book myself, but I had to get rid of books (there will be a lot more leaving still) and that seemed like a good way to help me narrow it down a bit.

See as this was filmed in the old house, I'm assuming that you've already gotten rid of these books. But I just wanted to mention that Goodreads reviews are known to highly unreliable and inaccurate, so don't use the average ratings as a reason to keep/rid of books. Take them as face value. Of course if you're not interested in the synopsis of a book or just don't want to read it you don't have to. But don't use Goodreads ratings to help you decide.

@@CompletelyMelanie I know, it's why it doesn't bother me how and why you get rid of your books. I just thought I should tell you about the ratings being unreliable. I was hoping ope I didn't come off negative or judgemental because that wasn't my intention at all, and I do apologise if that is how my tone of text came off 🥰 Also when's the new library tour??? I can't wait to see what you do with your books and shelves.

@@pandaaaaa4 Not offended at all. I'm not sure yet when I will have a library tour ready. I am still working on getting things unpacked and setup, and we are also trying to get things done at the old house so we can sell it. It will probably be a few months though.
