I agree that tertiary education is important to find a good starting job with good prospects over 5-10 years. If you look at those working after SPM vs degree holders. SPM holders earn money earlier, a smaller amount Degree holders earn slightly higher. Even though the amount earned was later, a degree holder can catch up with the total earnings of an SPM holder for 8 years within 5 years. Furthermore, when you would like to switch jobs (find a better opportunity), a degree holder has the better advantage of getting selected for an interview. Recruiters/HR mainly filter off their educations as part of the criteria for new candidates.
Been following WBK for a long time and your content is getting better each time. Good job on never giving up even tho getting just a few K views on early days.

Personally as a postgraduate student still experiencing this journey, will still enforce my kids to have higher edu for this experience. Yes we might not actually 100% settle into a top job or become who we want to be in 5 to 10 years etc, but this journey will really expose students/people into the journey that's different. ie learning to be critical, learning to be analytical, exposed to academic methodology and also the social aspects that's unique to the school you belong to etc. Additionally as an international student will also gives you that geographic exposure that not everyone has the privilege to experiencing. It is an expensive journey but it will surely be worth the journey. For entrepreneurial, through such education, u wont have to 走弯路 or even 冤枉路 as much too.

IMHO depending on which group you're joining, the answer might be yes or no. The importance of tertiary education may be overlooked today, but in the future when obstacles and challenges arise in life, career, business, etc., you will reconsider your view. People born with golden spoon can inherit the wealth of their families, making it easier for them to excel in life, career and business without having to worry about tertiary education. It's a realistic world we live in. In business, those bosses in the C-suite will still love to list their education qualifications in the company prospectus (annual report) to demonstrate their credibility and impress shareholders. Political leaders without a bachelor's degree are jokes; some of them buy fake degrees to prove their credentials and hide their shortcomings. Career-wise, you will find it difficult to climb the career ladder, and you will be paid less than someone your age with a higher qualification.
我并不完全认同最后那句结尾啦,我认为education is important,and it also a necessary.
I think nowadays degree is very important because just imagine if you want to work oversea, then you need at least a degree to prove that you are qualified, especially when you want to work at the development country. Without a degree in this era, your career will be limited. Hence, is good to get a degree because is like a key for you to unlock the boxes in your future.

The focus, resolve and grit to study well, also ensures a certain level of success. The false dichotomy is that you choose to go uni or go to work. Because at the end of the day, we all have to work. You can also start a business after uni. In fact, billionaire startup founders are disproportionally university-goers with a privilege family background. The sad truth is starting a business is risky. If you have limited startup capital, there is no room for error.

UNI VS GOING TO WORK EARLIER ?

as a spm holder

tbh I do regret that I didn't go to college. like after working for several years I do face some difficulty to get a better job lah. lost of confident & financially not doing well make me a bit hesitate like whether to go or not, if there is a reset button in life I'll choose to go uni/college for a better/stable future. Ofcuz chinese like money, so I do feel shameful to even face my family and relatives.
@Chinp7788 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you, going to college is very important. However, there is a lot opportunity out there, I got few ex colleagues all of them only have SPM, but they can become team manager, operation manager , some is company director now, what my perspective is even though you have degree, but if you can’t perform well at work or communicate with other, you can’t get a good job too.

Bachelor of Computer Science in Software System Development 顺利Degree毕业 也成为了Software Developer,也简称Software Engineer
College ain’t necessary. It limits down creativity. People who had no education in university, will eventually blame themselves for not going into tertiary education due to failures in their career. Knowledge is gained through experiences and not papers. Been in the high educational level for 6 years and everything is not really necessary to be successful. Never let anything hold you back.
@seanchungify Жыл бұрын
yeah if u are going to work in a small firm, of course it's unnecessary
Your answer will probably differ depending on your situation. If you are asking for yourself, alot of the points in the video makes sense. But if you are a parent, you will want your kid to have the cert because (as the video also said) your kid may not be rich, but he won't be poor. But without a cert, it might go 50/50

not just Malaysia, Singapore also having the similar divide on whether having a degree is a default item that is must have in order to succeed to some extent i have some regret, looking back, on taking the path of going to do A levels then enrol (after 3 tries) to NUS to a course that the interest fizzled out in the end. but for the sake of face + the school fees, gotta finish it. Compared to some of my peers who went polytechnic path and come out to work early think they may well be more street-smart

Even a 5 stars hotel chef will have to attend culinary school and obtain various certificates, diplomas, recognitions, and awards. It is quite possible for someone without certificates, diplomas, recognitions, or awards to become a successful chef, but how many out of 10 are going to be successful?
Regardless of how much money you make, if you do not have at least a Bachelor's degree, you will find yourself limited in life. The experience gained in university is invaluable and cannot be bought with money.
Important lesson is that if your family got money no need study also ok la.....

Education is very important but it does not determine everything. What makes a business work is not just the boss but also the employees. If you hire a highly educated employee who applies what they learnt at school ,has relatively ok IQ and EQ he/she is likely to be an asset in helping the business achieve success. Let's take a simple starch producing business for example, if you do not have someone who studied their chemistry & physics well how would you know that in milling starch the factory needs to make sure there's no exposed wiring, have explosion proof equipment and ensure no smoking on the grounds because starch is combustible and at large enough quantities of starch dust a spark can trigger a large explosion. Geography matters a lot as well since its a globalised business world, shipping materials & finished goods through different routes to reach different destinations. Example if you send a temperature sensitive product to a far away country it can spoil the quality of a product as it crosses into a different season. That triggers decision making to use a refrigerated container or not. Try running a MNC without graduates.

Further studies is good if you know what you want to do in the future...make good of your studies....if not...then you will be those with cert but jobless or low salary achiever..... Westerners parenting or education is different.... Western education yes is better.... But the culture of parenting or kids development its not that good unless your children will be in the States.... My point is you dont need westerner culture if you are staying in Malaysia....white people parenting or child development is one of the worst top 10 in the world of culture....
