Great overview, but I'd like to add a bit to your advice. For one, movement during recovery affects GRD. If the cycle is ending you might want to tech forward or neutral to secure Vorpal. DO NOT DELAY TECH. Despite the fact that it doesn't move you backwards it still gives your opponent more time to build GRD by moving forwards. The extra advantage also makes assaulting or throwing more viable options to steal Vorpal. Of course this isn't to say you should never back or delay tech, just that you should be aware of the GRD situation when you do. Secondly, You can partially delay directional teching. Whether forward, neutral, or back, you can stay down for a few extra frames before you're locked into normal wakeup. You can throw off your opponents timing without giving up as much frame or spacial advantage, which can be incredibly useful. One example is wakeup VO. Despite it's faster startup, there are several characters that can still safe meaty with 5A, it's just really tight. With certain framekills you can react to teching and buffer 5A, or assault for a safejump if they no-tech. Partial delay is great for shutting down this, and other sophisticated setups.

Enough time has passed, Under Night In Birth II has now been patched. Can we now all admit that Under Night In Birth II is the new greatest fighting game in the world for all eternity, that anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, and we need to spread the word worldwide like it's the newest wave of Kagura Bachi fever? Matter of fact, spread some more Kagura Bachi love to Japan too! SO gogogo, boys, tell the whole world this: Lobotomy Kaisen is dead, & LOBOTOMY IN-BIRTH HAS BEEN BORN!!!!!!!

Thanks for the video! This came up exactly as I was trying to explore how recovery works in this game! is it true that you must always be holding a tech button or else the opponent gets an extended combo? And thats what makes for an invalid combo because the opponent failed to tech when they could have but didnt? Also is it possible to do a directional recovery and immediate chain-shift on wake up? Or can I only do a wake up chain-shift if I choose no recovery? I know my execution isnt perfect so I often wake up shield instead of chain-shift, but maybe that's what always happens if you try to recover with a button/direction Thanks again for the video! All of your content is very helpful!

You are correct about invalid combos (when the combo counter turns red). You can chain shift whenever you gain control of your character. It does not matter what kind of recovery you do.

@@connerallen934 You can just mash D for CS. As a heads up, you can't hold back while attempting CS as you'll get shield first.

I seen that recovery is fully invul (could air grab as Waldstein when someone recovered forward) but people seem to pick up their combo right where they left off as soon as i recover. Is it the split second i touch the ground?
@SeaLeafDojoАй бұрын
I think you may be confusing recovery with wall/ground bounce pick ups in combos. Is the combo counter still going up when you get hit? If not, you're simply not blocking the attacks after you recover. You can hold back/downback while recovering to ensure you defend the next set of strikes.

@@SeaLeafDojo Thank you. I might be pressing something as I land. I'll have to focus on that next time I play. I'll just try recovering into block

I put the game down because the defensive options are so abismal in this game. Sitting back and throwing beams isnt really punishable and dash blocking is just another reset waiting.

Now you can do B+C 1/3 to ghost roll through it, whatever it is called. Snk invul roll mechanic. Assault can get you over some projectiles too. (I know this is a 5 mo old comment but I would like to see people come back and pick up UNI 2)
