Finally! After talking about atoms and molecules in chemistry, big molecules in biochemistry, and all the parts of the cell in this biology series, we are finally ready to look at entire living organisms! But we have to start with the simplest ones on the planet, and that is undoubtedly bacteria. We went over many aspects of bacterial structure when we talked about prokaryotic cells, but now let's learn about the types of bacteria, and some of the things that they do.

Microbiology is such a fascinating bioscience! It has so many connections to things like immunology, biochemistry, oncology, genetics, medicine and industrial production, and more. I loved taking micro courses. I suggest everyone study it on their own time to better understand the unseen world around us.

Hello Dave, always loved the channel and learnt a lot, this time I'll try n type a couple words :) Would like to just point out about Gram's Staining; The different result is not because of the fact that more or less dye stays in gram positive citoplasm or leaves gram minus. Those are two different colours and the violet one (usually cristal violet) wont leave the gram positive at all, while it will get washed off of gram negatives because of thin ppglican and outer membrane proteins acting as pores. Then we put a different colour in (usually safranine) which then colours gram negative's citoplasm with red. so that's why the two are different. It may sound like its just one colour as its stated in the video, not sure if it's just me. Pretty sure you are very aware of that simple procedure, just thought I'd add it up. much love :)

Thank you for your videos. On a different topic do you happen to know if the following is true. XXY 1 in every 750 births and XYY 1 in every 1,000 births. It seems exaggerated. Thank you.
