How in the hell is that possible? Can you go outside Cornia without rescuing Scarlett?

This occurs if you beat Galerius too early or if you didn't give the Ring of the Maiden to someone at the altar. The game allows players to reset the Ring of the Maiden status to nobody upon revisiting the altar after beating the game, which is how I was able to get this ending.
