I have never seen a landline phone box shaped like that but that’s probably because we had landline phones made by vetch and Panasonic not uniden

1:37 By that logic why did Uniden ever discontinue the 900 MHz models? Nothing made them obsolete either, and almost all the succeeding 2.4 models were inferior. You are correct with your assessment toward the end that they stopped making the 1500 series just because it was old, and to stay relevant and competitive in a market where consumers want shiny and new, they are forced to keep evolving. And I'm sure they left the US market because, while 1500 sales might've been great, they were great among the percentage of the population that still used landline phones, and I'm sure by that time that percentage was dwindling too much for the business to remain profitable enough. It's a shame that Uniden left, but I have a strong feeling that if Uniden were to keep making phones in the US, the quality would be going further downhill right along with Panasanic. At least they went out with a bang (the 1700 series). Another point that you may not have considered: vtech has a very popular business of children's toys, and Panasonic sells all sorts of consumer electronics. As for Uniden, their only major consumer product was cordless telephones (not even corded phones or accessories), and to a far lesser extent things like dashboard cameras and walkie talkies or scanners, but these weren't things the average consumer needed. So they pretty much lived off the cordless phone business in the US without much of anything to fall back on. Perhaps if they had another profitable business, they could have survived to continue selling phones here. You should put another testing 210 in the other room, or register a handset to the TRU base and then you can call and leave testing messages from over there without a feedback freakshow.

The consumer market, which generally tends to ignore all factors of logic, quality, and performance, deemed 900 MHz obsolete the day the flashy, smaller 2.4 GHz models appeared in the catalog. DECT 6 is still the 'current' technology, nothing has been released to replace it. If you look at some of the popular economy models by AT&T and Vtech, they are very comparable to the 1500 set in terms of feature set and appearance, yet those models keep going while the Uniden stopped. Your points about Uniden are very reasonable, and both likely true. A handset cannot be registered to that base, it has some kind of issue with it which is why it was designated to that use case originally. Moving the 210, or even just connecting a longer cord, does make good sense. I'll think about doing something with that situation.

Great video of the Uniden D1680-2C DECT 6 Cordless the Telephone Duo with the Speakerphones & the infamous Digitan Answering Machine which is apparently somewhat the deplorable the Jordan! Apparently I could not hear the messages very clearly but they seemed close.
