This is for all the dummies like me. I have a 2007 e90 335i with rain sensors. I tried every combination to do this on the plug that connects to the mirror. I got one combo to work but it stayed on all the time. So after some frustration and many hours I decided to try to tap into the rain sensor. It only has three wires. Red brown and white. Red to red black to brown and it worked perfectly. Starts up when key is turned on and powers down when the car is shut off.

Really good advice for zip-tying to the main wire harness. I have a G80 and am about to grab a Uniden R8. Still have to research the right Blendmount kit. They don't make is extremely obvious and they seem to be out of stock on a bunch of models.

Thank you! Happy i could help! Hopefully they will come back in stock so you can get one of the mounts. I might be picking up an r7 radar over Black Friday possibly, was thinking about moving my r3 over to my daily

I was unsuccessful with my install into the smaller plug (Uniden R4). I installed it using the blades of the wire and it worked fine, but some of the blade was still exposed. Then I realized that I hadn't used the pin connectors, so I removed the blades, installed the pins, and never got it to work again. I closed things up, walked away for a week. I hope I didn't damage anything that would require me to replace the wiring harness in the car. So, is "Plugging it in the bigger plug" an option? What wire to what wire for the Bigger Plug? Read a forum post about using Green w/ brown strip and Brown as the Ground. I'd really prefer the mirror hardwire option if possible. Otherwise the fuse box. The external wire will drive me insane. Thanks for any info you may provide. Best Regards.

Hey! Yeah i almost made the same mistake using the larger taps instead of the provided smaller ones. It may just be a connection spot, as in you out in the smaller plugs and it may not have made a clean connection in the plug tapping into the wires. I would give it another go and try again now using the smaller connectors Ofcourse and see how it goes. Im not confident enough on another method that i could make a recommendation on unfortunately

@@UnworthyMotors Awesome. Thanks so much for your input. Will do. Still glad I stepped away from it. I'll regroup and give it another shot.

@@MarkShark_F80 I’m the same way. For me I have to step away because I’ll just end up getting to frustrated lol

Fuck, should've gotten this one

How did you pull off the pink rain sensor connector? Mine won’t come out (f36).
@UnworthyMotors Жыл бұрын
It’s extremely hard to get in there but it should have a tab that you have to squeeze. May have to get a pick tool in to do it but it should have clips to pinch from what i Remember

Okay I think it takes over 20 minutes and possibly without the key fob around. Then it finally goes off wtf

I’m sorry you are having issues with it! Mine stays on maybe 10-15 and cuts off. Different models, years, can vary, there is a ton of different variables that could cause it to be different on another car. This is just been my experience with the cars I’ve done it on.

Mine still stays on

If connected to the correct wire, and in the same model car(f80/f82 or F30) then it should cut off after several minutes after the car is locked.

You are right I was just too inpatient 😂 but it works thanks tho!

So mines an f82 m4 2015 and my detector is staying on after car is off and locked. Waited at least 5 mins. Still on
@mansandhu142 жыл бұрын
@@newbiedaytrayda258 Are your connections correct? Mine usually takes longer than 5 minutes but I have not timed it for when it turns off after I lock my car

@@mansandhu14 hey. I think it just takes like 20+ minutes and without the key fob being around. Then it finally goes off
