It's utilized in one-way exits and entrances to car parks. The teeth that you drive over are angled on the permitted travel side and theyre vertical on the prohibited side. When you try to drive over the vertical side, it's a sharp edge poking into your tire. When you drive over the angled side, your tires are pushing against a wedge and forcing it down. So no, it's not bad... But they're already doing it
