Oh no!! It looks like you cannot do site-to-site VPN with this device. I don't understand why not if it is a USG? I don't think SSH'ing into the Unifi Express is possible? Your introduction is partially wrong. UniFi Express does not replace a CloudKey 2 Plus, as the CloudKey supports UniFi Protect (NVR Functionality) which the Express does not support at all.

What would be the best Ubiquiti solution for a 360m² residence with concrete walls and many connected devices (4k IP cameras, IOT home automation devices, video streaming on smart TVs, etc.). Currently, using 2 Asus RT-AC86U mesh routers but recently I have been having problems with devices disconnecting and packet loss on IP CCTV. balancing between devices also doesn't work well. I'm thinking about switching to a UniFi solution and I'm unsure about using the UDM-PRO, UniFi Dream Router, or UniFi Express. One difficulty is that there is a section of the house that cannot run cables, it would have to have a wireless bridge (Mesh or repeater with Ethernet cable output).

With UniFi Express you can control 4 UniFi Devices so you should buy UDM-Pro or UniFi Dream Router. If you want later to add UniFi Cameras or you need 2 Wan Ports then you should buy UDM-Pro. The best solution for the WiFi coverage is to use UTP Cables and Access Points. If there are rooms without UTP cables then you can use Access Points with Mesh.

You're welcome! UniFi Express supports VLANs but what do you mean by password based VLANs?

The other VLAN assignment option is "Virtual Network Override", which is a client setting. I'm currently providing these feature via RADIUS, but I would like to remove that dependency. Thanks.

Can this be entirely used as a mesh AP setup using 3 of them? I want to keep my OPNsense firewall and have it feed into one of these in the middle of the house with another at the front and the back of the house via mesh.

Yes, absolutely! Just connect only the Lan port of the UniFi Express and adopt it like a usual UniFi device!

I would not recomend it, while it will probably work, one will still have to operate as router and controller, so you will create double NAT in your home. Maybe if you have one of the different CloudKeys slap it in your current OPNSense network and setup a UniFi controller without router you can add the 3 express devices. But at that point you will be actually better usung lets say 2 Unifi U6 Mesh Access Points than 3 of these.

Καλή Χρονιά! Σε ευχαριστώ για τα καλά σου λόγια! Μπορείς μέσω PPOE Pass through, αλλά σε αρκετές περιπτώσεις μπορεί να μη δουλέψει και θα πρέπει να επκοινωνήσεις με την Cosmote. Τουλάχιστον τους προηγούμενους μήνες αντιμετώπισα πολλά προβλήματα. Αν το δοκιμάσεις και δεν σου δουλέψει τότε η λύση είναι DMZ. Στο Router της Cosmote θα πρέπει να ενεργοποιήσεις τη λειτουργία DMZ και να επιλέξεις την IP του UniFi Router. Στο UniFi Router στις ρυθμίσεις του Internet θα επιλέψεις IPv4 Configuration --> Static IP και θα δώσεις την IP διεύθυνση που έδωσες και στο DMZ της Cosmote. Αν δεν έχεις static Public IP και χρειάζεσαι κάποιο dyndns τότε για ευκολία ρύθμισε το στο Router της Cosmote και όχι στο UniFi.

Σήμερα το πείρα αλλά δεν κατάφερα να το συνδέσω κατευθιαν στο ίντερνετ (wan) αλλά με το παλιό ρουτερ της cosmote. Υπάρχει κάποιος τρόπος να το συνδεσω κατευθείαν με το wan του isp? Τους πείρα τηλέφωνο και μου δωσανε το username και password αλλά δυστυχώς δεν τα κατάφερα. Δεν συνδεόταν με τίποτα

Δεν υπάρχει τρόπος να το συνδέσεις διαφορετικά, παρά μόνο μέσω του Router που σου δίνει ο πάροχος. Αυτό φυσικά έχει και τα πλεονεκτήματα του, αφού θα δουλεύει και το τηλέφωνο και σε περίπτωση βλάβης θα είναι πολύ πιο εύκολο να βρεις άκρη με τον πάροχο!Τα στοιχεία που σου δώσανε (username και password) μπορείς να τα χρησιμοποιήσεις επιλέγοντας ως Wan στις ρυθμίσεις αντί για IPv4 = DHCP που είναι τώρα, PPPoE. Με αυτό τον τρόπο το UniFi Express θα λειτουργεί αυτόνομα σαν να μην υπήρχε το Router του παρόχου. Δηλαδή π.χ οι ρυθμίσεις για Port Forward θα γίνονται μόνο στο UniFi Express και όχι και στο Router του παρόχου!

If you already have a router, can the Express be used as just a controller only for other unifi devices? Or, even better, as a controller/AP combo? Are their options in the network software that could allow that?

I believe that it cannot work like this. In order to work as Router/Controller it is required to connect Internet from your ISP into the Wan port of the UniFi Express. Then the rest of your network devices (switch, access points, etc) should be connected in the lan port of UniFi Express. If you just add it in your local network by connecting only the Lan Port of the UniFi Express then it will function as an Access Point. If you have already a router, then it is better to purchase a UniFi Cloud Key.

Hi can U please tell me, how can I use unify dream wall machine as alternative to ISP modem. I bought Udm wall paying more then 1000 bucks..but I don't know how can I replace the ISP modem and use this as primary. Is it even possible? Coz actually ISP modem is big and not sophisticated like Udm wall.. And thanks for Ur great video

I haven't tested UniFi Dream Wall yet, but it can be configured like the rest of the UniFi gateways. I don't know which is your ISP Modem but usually in an installation we keep the ISP's Modem and simply we connect a Lan Port of the ISP Modem with the Wan Port of UniFi Dream Wall using a patch cord.

I don't want to use the ISP modem (it's big and not even functioning with the LTE Sim for increased speed in hybrid mode. My qn is , how can I configure the udm wall to take over the action of modem form ISP?

​@moya-moye in case u didnt figure it out yet u need to log into the isp modems admin page, find "bridge mode" or "modem only mode" or something to that extend. It will bridge one of or all of the lanports to the internet letting u plug in ur own router or firewall and have it pull a wan ip

I agree with you! On the other hand though it is ideal for homes and offices. Typically in a home or office there is 1 UniFi Router, 1 Switch and probably 1 or 2 access points.
