The person saying Verizon needs to be the gateway in order for the TVs. You can have Verizon swap the gateway for moca adapter or buy your own. Then it's ONT --> UNIFI --> MOCA adapter plugs into LAN port and coax into moca. You can also Google how to turn the gateway into a moca bridge .

7:00 When adding additional units with wired backhaul, which port do you have to plug into? Can both ports be used for 2 LAN ports in wireless backhaul mode or as a wired backhaul and additional LAN?

Hey Willie, great video! I just bought one (they came back in stock today!). I have a TP-Link ER605 router and a TP-Link POE+ switch with a CloudKey gen 1 and a Ubiquiti AP hanging off of it. I plan to replace the router, CloudKey and AP with this. I’m assuming I’ll have to configure it with a cable connected from my PC correct? I’m assuming if I adopt it, it’ll configure it as just an AP right? Ideally I’d like to adopt it so it gets all the SSIDs and UniFi configs and THEN configure it as my router. Is that possible? Thanks!

Willie, I’ve inherited a network of unifi switches and edgerouters using both UISP and a controller we host in AWS. They are linked through an opnsense controller which they all VPN back to creating a whole load of single points of failure. I’m interested in removing one of those two control planes and gaining some additional functionality. I could either buy UDMs and migrate my switches to UISP, or buy UXG Pros and remove my edgerouters in UISP. The main functionality I’m after is site to site SD WAN to remove the single points of failure VON tunnels, and the ability to present a captive portal for public Wi-Fi on a specific VLAN. Any suggestions (open to all!)

I am very interested in UniFi Express and I would like to use it as the main router at home + switch (USW-Flex-Mini) and expand it with an AP from Ubiquiti in the future. I really like the Ubiquti ecosystem and what possibilities their OS offers, including the statistics view. Does it support internet via PPPoE? What is the maximum wi-fi speed for a single client (wifi lan / wifi wifi)? I would be very grateful for your answer and I am waiting for further material from testing this equipment.

Pppoe is supported. Max speed for single client has a lot what-ifs.

Currently, I have an old TP-Link Archer C7 router and the WiFi speed in optimal conditions is around 500-550 Mbps. I would like to know if it is possible to reach 1Gbps with this small device using, for example, the iperf/openspeedtest test between 2 devices connected via: lan wifi /wifi wifi. Hi, i received mine yesterday but i faced an odd issue, when you configure it as an adopted access point, the wifi throughput seems to be reduced or limited (~125-150mbps) -> cable and switch are gigabit, same results as a mesh ap. As a wifi router i got ~500mbps of throughput which is to be expected. No problem with my other ap’s Young firmware ? Maybe

@@WillieHowe Thank you for checking this! This is really disappointing :( I was hoping to avoid switches at two ends of a single outdoor cable. This is definitely a missing feature in UniFi OS. Some of the older Enterprise UniFi APs had LAN in and out, and you could daisy chain them.

What crypto hardware do these or UXG-lite. AES support? I like simplicity and tempted for a family member, however pfsense/opnsense better VPN support with AES/QAT. Will wait for the reviews before looking to move a family member over from a pfsense setup. I experienced the horror show of the original UDM-Pro in March 2020, so have not touched their gateway products since. IPV6 support vs pfsense/opnsense? It appeals as it would just be another site in the Unifi web portal, so nice and simple. I’m UK based so will take longer due to PSU difference and joys of Brexit..

It all depends on your use case. If I was doing VoIP with more than 2 phones I wouldn't use any of those.

I need to do some app / service testing and need to have some way to rate limit a client / application as well as artificially add latency to test poor connections. Is there any way in Ubiquiti to add latency to a link? Is there any free Windows software or open router firmware (like DD-WRT or Open-WRT) that I can latency for a link / connection? I was also interested in using this to host the controller if possible and the lite as my router with threat detection. Would be nice to pay $150 to get the express with controller + AP rather than having to buy the gen2 cloud key

You don’t have to run a Cloud Key. You can run the controller software on any Intel PC on a Raspberry Pi.

I'm disappointed that it can only handle 5 or 6 devices. I currently use an EdgerouterX along with 2 Unifi APs and 6 Unifi switches and thought this would be perfect to replace the EdgerouterX and get everything into one ecosystem. I was ready to buy.
