There's some upside for putting at your grandma's house, but if you're installing anywhere that might need other applications such as Protect, you might consider something else. You could always pair it with an NVR, but at that point you need a rack, and why not have a UDM Pro if you have a rack. Obviously, if it only supports 60 clients then it is less powerful than their dedicated APs which work great. Also, no IDS/IPS, but most people looking at this probably aren't too concerned about that. For what it is, a full replacement for an ISP/home router for only $149 or whatever, it's great.

So my take on this is that it's for the home user where they can have a Unifi eco system without requiring a cloud key or cloud controller. The UXG-Lite from last week is for those in the business / MSP space that have a cloud controller and they can then just hook it in. If you desire Talk, Protect or other apps, then you're looking at the CK and UDM devices. Fair statement?
@WillieHowe9 ай бұрын
This is 100% correct in my assessment. You can't join this to a self hosted controller or cloud controller. It has to be either stand alone or another UniFi OS (UDM, UDR, UDW, UX) device if you're adopting it in.
@mikescott40089 ай бұрын
Fair do. I'll have a think re what I'll be doing. I've recently put a pfsense 2.7 install at my parents, but it's over "complicated" compared to what this offers. I certainly could be tempted to put it in at theirs along with a spare AP I have (FlexHD) in wired backhaul. Their on a CGNAT / IPV6 900/900 connection in the UK. Me I prefer to play with kit, pfsense, opnsense, Sophos XG, Unifi, Cisco CBS switches and so forth. TBH got stack of £££ in kit sat on the shelf or powered off it's ridicolous. I like the Cisco CBS switches, but they dropped the ball with the CBS software. Work wise I've recently installed Cisco 9K switches at TOR! So complete contrast.@@WillieHowe
