Considering the limitations imposed by the existing setup, an extremely neat, workman like job.

What a great improvement. I had such a moment with new UniFi equipment with some older cables going around, but the result is always much better then what it was. Once from 6 switches to one USW-48-POE. What a difference. The other with the Pro variant. They always experience an improvement in the LAN alone.

@@GeneralCondom I agree a 1000%! But Ubiquiti is going to have to start making enterprise routers and switches that can handle large companies. Maybe even an Enterprise UDMPro SE. That would be a start.

Invest in a battery powered screwdriver or drill. I got these badass snap-on brand mini-drills that I got a killer deal on for a couple of them, had a few at work and a few at home with extra batteries and everything. Its a time-savor for getting shit done. I know its talking seconds but speed/efficiency is king. I honestly will never go back to using normal screwdrivers by hand....

OMG they still had a 3Com switch. How old would that be? 20 years? Also i hatre those 48 port patch panels. They don't make anything neater, and you can put a switch in the middle.

The USW-48-PoE not being 48 ports of PoE is annoying as. The old US-48-500W was. When I buy a 48 port or 24 port 1U PoE switch I expect PoE to be available on all the 48 or 24 RJ45 ports. Having to shuffle cabling around for devices that require PoE but the port on the switch where you'd like to plug it in doesn't have PoE just makes the cabling a mess. I like to patch out all ports and not have to worry about a PoE device not getting power because the switch port doesn't provide it. Cisco, Juniper & Aruba HPE all have models that do PoE on all the ports, if UBNT want to play in that space they need to step up their game.

Ubiquiti does have a full 48 poe but its the pro version and cost a bit more

@chrisschneider76092 жыл бұрын
Confused that you didn't go with the full POE switch. It's not that much more. Also, there are a lot of paths that should have been simplified given the two switches you could have done the "patching" in the device rather than making some cables go from the top patch panel to the bottom switch and from the bottom patch panel to the top. Seems very weird for a deployment like this. I also would have cleaned the bad "analogue" links. Far nicer than the embarrassment that was there originally, though. They should have been fired for their lack of professionalism, let alone the extra costs they were charging. I also find it far nicer to do groups of the sub-patch panel groups, in this case, 6 cables grouped together. It makes troubleshooting 10 times quicker.
