Just gotta be careful that 911 calls from remote sites will show up to the dispatcher as the main site address, unless you can use separate address for each device

This is an excellent point that I forgot to bring up ( which you can’t specify at the moment pinning this comment )

@@MactelecomNetworks Is there any way to disable the emergency calls? I am using UniFi Talk in India for local intercom, and want to use a US number but don't want anyone to call 911 accidentally because India's ISD code is 91!

Hi Cody, does Unifi Talk remote setup which you covered in this video work now with the new Unifi Site Magic setup? I could not use site-to-site before due to NAT but I really hoping that it will work with Site Magic as it overcomes the NAT issues I had before. Have you tried it yet? Let me know and thanks for all your great videos!!!!

Good video, next one could be about isolating the VOIP network and using QOS for VOIP/Sip traffic.

VPNs on the phones themselves exist as a part of the Android, and they would work for remote phones except that the connection isn't kept alive when there's no activity. They just need to alter that slightly to keep the connection going, and you wouldn't even need a site to site VPN. They should also make the device VPN enforceable as a device policy pushed from the controller its adopted by. This way people can take the phone anywhere and use it without any extra config. All the framework is already there of Android, MDMs, VPN policies, etc.

I couldn't get this to work in the past when I tried the exact same setup, but maybe I missed a step. I thought this could work, and I am glad it does. I know they have a VPN option on the phone itself, but was told it is not working at this time. It would also be nice to get that working as well so it would work outside of a site to site VPN configuration.

Just watched your video and learned a lot. I see that there is a VPN client in the Touch phone which I'd like to make use of instead of using a site to site VPN. So far, I've been unsuccessful in connecting it to my VPN server running on my UDMP. A video on that would be great!

Great video! This also works with Softphone apps (local and external IP addresses).

Question: Were these phones subscription "Locked" or "Unlocked"? In other words, can you use two "locked" phones (with one UI phone subscription) for internal calls only?

Hi Mactelecom. I plan to deploy some unifi cameras at a remote site. My main site currently is on a UDM pro. If i perform a site to site vpn setup between my UDM pro and cloud key gen 2 +, would i be able to monitor the unifi cameras at the remote site ? Both sites use its own public ip address. Thanks

If I have VPN setup using the Meraki, do I still need to have a UDR at the remote site? is there a way just to configure the phone with VPN creds?
@danbornemeier4716 Жыл бұрын
Curious if you have tried this with a s2s VPN between a UDM and a non Unifi client? I have established s2s VPNs between multiple UMD/UDM Pro/UDM SE at remote sites back to a Meraki MX64 at HQ and they work wonderfully. I am going to try this but am dubious about the Talk application seeing the remote VOIP phones without being unifi to unifi. Obviously I do have a UDM at HQ to run Talk, but it is not my edge router or DHCP. It has its own public IP and is not behind NAT, but just acts as a glorified Wifi and Talk controller. I might have to s2s to it directly using different subnets/VLANs if the first method fails. Dealing with non management VLANS obviously complicates things. It would seem there should be a way to force a remote adopt via Putty rather than having to adopt locally then physically send hardware to remote site.

I have a set up where at one end is a Cisco router and the other end is the UDMP with the Talk application. I can ping devices on the UDMP network from the Cisco network but I can not ping the UDMP itself. Would you know how to do this? I have all the phones adopted and ready to deploy at the remote site but I tested one and it is not showing online at the remote site.

About the 911 calling - in the U.S. there is "Kari's Law" and the "Ray Baum's Act" regulating Multi Line Telephone Systems (MLTS), you find info about it on the FCC site, but YT does not let me post links WTH .... well done video BTW

Been wanting to put a Viewport at a remote site using this technique, but couldn’t get it to work. I’ll try the local adoption before moving to the remote site again, maybe that’s the step I missed.
