Hi!My name is John ,I am from Greece and I would like to become a firefighter in USA.What I have to do in order to attend the Fire Department?
@Chill_Vibezzz3 ай бұрын
@@SpecificGarage-l7j if you are a legal resident of the US you can apply to your local fire department on their website. You can get any information you need on their website. You should just have to type, for example “MayCountyFireDepartment” and you’ll be able to find it. Make sure to use your own counties name though.

I can't speak for all fire departments in the US. With us you have to go through E-Verifywww.e-verify.gov/ to be eligible for hire.

This used to be the job, at least my dept. Went from 25,000 calls a year to over 80,000 calls. So now the truck check usually happens after multiple back to back morning calls closer to 10/11 am. There’s no coffee talk, no time for shopping or eating lunch, more calls, then we attempt to train but that’s instantly cancelled by calls, then dinner is interrupted as we cook and as we eat for MORE calls, movie nights are gone since we are running calls. And sleep only happens off duty after the shift finally ends since you can’t take calls after your shift ends. That’s the next shift’s problem. Ahhhh the beauty of working in an understaffed dept filled with senior citizens using 911 for Uber rides. EMS is the best.
@youratwinklingstar5644Ай бұрын
dude what, 80,000 calls!!!!????? I'm volunteering at my nearby hall and it's like 140 calls every year or two, where are you Tokyo?
@EchoDoctrineАй бұрын
@ Florida 80,000 calls over 25 stations, area is constantly growing. We are falling behind IMO, turns out half the country has decided to move to FL after the pandemic. It’s kinda insane 😂 Oh also that’s Fire AND ems we run both. Our “utilization hours” (times a unit is on a call) is absolutely through the roof. It’s probably extremely dangerous & will make news IF/When something bad happens to public BUT no one wants to raise taxes and increase services. We are hanging on & getting job done… barely.
@youratwinklingstar5644Ай бұрын
@ oh okay well spread out between 25 stations isn’t THAT bad but crazy bro, gj. I’m surprised ppl are still moving down there, wasn’t there just a huge hurricane?
@EchoDoctrineАй бұрын
@ yeah about 3000 calls avg a station some lower at 2000 others at 3500 that fits with our year run list for each unit. We just had 2 back to back hurricanes, me personally I’m ready to leave, been here in FL 25 & it’s been getting worse. Also after these two back to back storms I have 1st heard a few residents talking about their frustrations living here & considering leaving too. What a world 😂
@youratwinklingstar5644Ай бұрын
@ ahh makes sense, still 3,000 calls, I’m not a mathematician but that’s like 8 calls a day? Dang. Crazy, my family was talking about going for a trip to Florida, guess I’m glad we didn’t, my condolences, y’all have it rough down there. Stay safe, thanks for all you do!
