Thank you for explaining that to the “rest of us” we need it. More than likely you could have made a bad dive a good dive with this video.

Great topic. People worry about extremely rare problems like being left behind by the boat or an agressive share, but the likeliness to get into trouble because of a loss or failure of your mask is so much higher. Since my rescue diver course I have a spare one with me on every dive and handed it out many times to other divers who's mask was badly leaking or who's rental mask didn't fit - and I'm not even talking of broken glass or mask straps.

Good video. Was wondering if i could get your thoughts on how i have my backup mask set up. I also use the same brand and model for both my backup and primary mask. However, my primary uses a velcro slap-strap, so it cant be easily adjusted underwater. My back-up uses the silicone strap it came with (but with a neoprene cover) so that if I need to pass it over to a teammate they can adjust it if they have a different sized head from me!

good point, usually, you all have your own mask, so sizing should not be an issue. However, if you have to adjust a mask that has a fixed strap like nylon or velcro. you can twist the strap sometimes to tighten it up.

@@UTD_ScubaDiving Good tip about the twisting, I'd have never of thought of that myself!
