A Yank here, from Western US, the state of Wyoming. I was fortanate to visit OZ about 6'years ago(2016-2017)'for 6 months. I have a mate there, who lives close to Dubbo, and owned a station out by Tilpa and and another up by Brewania. I traveled between all 3 places in a 24 ft flatbed truck. I had never been through a roundabout, and I'm driving on the wrong side of the road! I'm planning on coming back soon, and watching your amazing video's makes me wish I were there now! Hope to meet up with you.

Loved the video, viewing from the air seems the best way to appreciate the Bungle Bungles. I felt so sad for you having to replace two tyres on the Unimog. Those tyres are not cheap and having to get them trucked in from Perth just adds to the pain. Thanks for sharing, always enjoy your videos.
@UnimogAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. a helicopter flight would be great, but not sure if they run them from there. The tyres are really expensive,and we replace three in Kununarra, and got another two shipped across from the East and picked them up in Port Hedland. We decided not to risk traveling on old tyres, especially where we go. It made a dent in the budget, that's for sure.

Hello I have been following you with great pleasure for some time. By following you, I fell in love with the Unimog, with Australia, its nature and its landscapes... Your pictures are sublime! Besides the fact of being of a great sensuality, they are in total adequacy with the landscapes... in total communion with nature... Thanks guys,another great adventure ,glad you didn’t have to dig your way out of the salt lake,got lucky I think.You are right,all these places are way better when you can enjoy them by yourselves 👍We’re those tyres that failed getting a bit old,or do you think something cut them?Look forward to seeing you again soon 🙂
@UnimogAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Thanks 👍, the sidewall splits were small, and there was nothing that shows any external damage, you can see in the photo, just a tiny crack. Iain says the tyres were really brittle when he took them off, we contacted Continental, as the tyres only had about 15,000km on them, and they told us they were out of date by at least 5 years, so no warranty. We switched over to Michelin XZLs after that.

Very interesting, do you ever get the truck stuck, do you have a winch or rescue plan as it’s appears heavy.
@UnimogAdventures2 жыл бұрын
We have winches front and rear, and carry a fair bit of recovery gear, kinetic rope, exhaust jacks, maxtraxs etc. We have come close a few times, but have been able to get out by lowering the tyre pressure and engaging the diff locks. We have a satellite phone, Garmin InReach and an PLB/EPIRB.

How do you guys find travelling in a large truck? Ive bought a 6x6 Landrover Perentie, so not as big as your Unimog, but it has a huge turning circle. Have you found your truck size limits the tracks you can do around Australia?
@UnimogAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Our truck has quite a tight turning circle, not much more than a Landcruiser. Ours is a little Unimog though. We have not had any problems with the tracks we have been on so far. We have had to to cut a few branches to clear our 3.3m height on the odd occasion.

@@UnimogAdventures Thanks for your reply and info... I really wish I could have got a unimog, but where I live one needs a residential parking permit to park on the street. Hi. Can you please tell me which states and territories can I fly my small drone? Done the drone course but not sure where to fly in national parks.
@UnimogAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It varies so much, and depends so best to search the various National Park website in each state, they also change their rules regularly. It doesn't make sense, as not all apply the CASA rules but come up with their own, but I think they will all soon be following CASA rules, as they actually control the airspace, not the Park people.
@gungadinn2 жыл бұрын
Well done Trish and Ian, beautiful scenery, (and model) great videography. . I always wanted to travel to Australia other than for work. From reading and the sound of things with your regressive government, I'll pass. Drones outlawed? What's next, taking pictures in public? How much is a liter of diesel for the Unimog now verses when this video was taken? Here in the US, diesel has gone from 70 cents per liter to $1.55 per liter. It looked like the Unimog had a Michelin military tread style tire. My M35a3 had Michelin's on it when retired from active service. The truck sat for a few months on low inflated tires. Over a period of 4 months, all 7 tires had to be replaced (Michelin sidewalls are IMO junk). I also removed the central tire inflation system, as it was the culprit for the tires leaking. Looks like Ian has gotten very good at tire repair.
@UnimogAdventures2 жыл бұрын
They banned the drones in some parks, pretty sad. Always the irresponsible people who do the wrong thing spoiling it for everyone else. Diesel up there was around $2.00 per litre, now it would be closer to $2.80 up there. The tyres were Continental ones, the Michelin ones have been a lot better.

I got a magnifying 🔎 glass to check if the rock-spiderette was actually Percy-Toplis....couldn't determine it.Subscribing would be a sure bet IF she was sans bustenhalter!!. If you want to increase subs....better to have a commentary that is not just dry comments on facts..... Eva Zu Beck gets lots of subs because she flirts a lot.....but has a silly commentary. Grizzly and Bear are improving and so too are their subs....their catch is their idiosyncratic presentation.(more important than the girls magnificent French Poitrines).
