I was not in the cheeriest of moods when I woke up, so I decided to go spend some time in the garden to perk myself up! And it worked beautifully. I was able to do another big harvest from the garden and enjoy some time with my beautiful dairy cows. I hope you enjoy coming along with me. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Lemon cucumbers have a very thin skin. Just wash the cucumber and the prickly part comes right off and you can Eat them like an apple. Pick them when they are light green and the seeds are tiny. If you let them start to turn yellow like the lemon they are named for they get large seeds and are tougher in my opinion. Enjoy!

My granddaughter and I ended up with lemon cucumbers, we were told just cucumbers. I’m glad you answered my question, I was wondering when to pick them. Right now I’ve got so many blooms, and we planted these in early April, and they’re just now coming out in abundance.

Your confession about pots and baskets is the same for me!!! My father in law bought an automatic water timer with drip for the hanging baskets for me and it helped until I left it out for the winter 🥶. I say that I’m a lazy gardener who lets God do the hard work of keeping in ground plants alive.

I really like the idea of that plastic, or a heavy weed cloth, at the edge of the garden and planting a vining squash like that! Really adds to the beauty of the garden. I'd like to know about the strange development of the zucchini too. I now have had that with zucchini and cucumber both this year. Fern is SOOO BEAUTIFUL! I can hardly wait for my next calf in the spring.

I have so far canned around 100 jars. I just got a pressure canner last month so I was able to can 42 jars of green beans, along with all my pickled items. I have no kids at home now, but between canning two types of pickles, eggplant caponata, and blueberry syrup (not counting all the gardening, harvesting, freezing, etc) and making dog food for my Great Pyrenees, I am working myself into exhaustion! Makes you start to look forward to winter, which I don't want because up here it lasts 6 months! I haven't even touched the freeze-dryer yet.

How about TARPING your garden? The whole thing. I've seen where people get used billboards & reuse then as tarps. It will cause the weed seeds to germinate but because the tarp blocks sunlight they quickly die. Just a thought

You were asking about the funny shaped zucchini, I believe it is due to incomplete pollination; it happens for me early in the season when there aren’t many bees around. Lovely harvest, good luck with peaches and tomatoes, that is a lot of work right there, but you got your own produce to deal with s well!

My Zucchini are doing that aswell this year. I thought it might be because the weather conditions. (Also I had one which was complete "white". Never had that before and the seed had should grown only the regular ones. No idea what happened there!) Some plants like cucumbers and tomatoes in the greenhouse from my parents are doing weird stuff, which they never have done. I think that I will be happy when this year is over and we can start with a fresh side. This is a very challenging one and honestly I will be happy when life will goes in a more slower pace during the wintertime. (Even when depression will hit hard.)

Chelsea , I’ll suggest especially after watching your eyes light up in your garden… my gardens are soul soothing , my favourite one is the first garden I did back in the 80’s - take your first coffee early morning , alone in your garden to make a mental to do list for the day, talk to GOD cause HE will guide you on the path for this day, you said once that you try to get up before anyone, my children have all grown so it’s just me and my dog, livestock isn’t allowed out so 👍 it stays quite quiet and that solitude SETS the day Great video dear.

Hello Chelsea. I've just purchased your wonderful cookbook. Just a quick question about the cheese pie. It has an Asterix next to mayonnaise but no note unless I'm missing it? Also so many people think us English say cottage pie or shepherds pie depending on the meat. Whilst that is technically correct, I don't know anyone that does in real life haha. We all just use the shepherds pie name. Watching you has given me so many tips on my garden, so thank you for all that you do x
