The modified sine wave output is probably OK for what these were designed for. A lot of times UPSes are used to power computer servers for a minutes to enable a proper shutdown routine on them. Some of them even connect via USB or serial to signal the computer via a software program to start that routine. They are usually not meant for continuous use. Plus most switch mode power supplies immediately rectify the supply to DC from coming in. This means a modified sine wave will not damage them much, especially the short duration they are on batteries in the first place.

can i use a Simulated Sine Wave UPS with my Computer having an Active PFC power supply ? will it damage my PC ?

Also many cheap inverters use the half voltage output scheme (hence the 60V from hot or neutral to ground) and are not suitable for grounded neutral systems.

Any chance to test some of the APC Smart-UPS? I have the SMT1500 myself and was curious how it stacked up.

Line-interactive is best trade-off, they call it pure sine wave it is NOT. But way better than junky ones. Online, double conversion are THE BEST.

Boy - that's odd the CyberPower 1U UPS battery output is so malformed. That's for powering network equipment and possibly servers or storage. I'm glad I ran across your video. I need to replace my APC 1500VA unit after 5 successive outages from a little dusting of snow in Austin knocked power out for 9-10 hours the other day. I'm not too happy with APC - they keep crapping out and the warranty doesn't make it worth while to pursue. I'm eying CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System 1500VA/1000W or (ugh) the APC BR1500MS2 1500VA Sine Wave UPS. At least APC added a mute button. That was driving me nuts! I'm not finding a sine wave Trip Lite.

Magnsine has a inverter that will work for you look in to it

A short test with 80% load should tell the story ;) PS: Ohmic, caoacitive and inductive load May spelled wrong :( I only mention this because my 5 kw inverter have best sine at 50% ;)

What are your personal opinions on the APC br1500ms? They offer a pure sine wave, but as for the internal components; it’d be nice to have your input.

I've been researching UPS's because I'm getting a generator for my home. Can you explain to us that aren't as smart why you need a good inverter?

Becouse if you plug up any thing to a square wave inverter you will buy new things that will die i have tried it. Trust me pure sine wave is the only inverter to buy!!!
