this is a chau with central point like the wind gong or is a completely different? amazing! expensive but amazing! gongs are special instruments... a question... best mallet for brass gong?
@gongsunlimited Жыл бұрын
It has the body of a Chau, but the lathing is different-the center is fully lathed, which opens up the tone a bit. This is my favorite style, the Dark Star. The best mallet for a gong depends on the size of your gong (diameter). Separately, most gongs are usually bronze (copper and tin), though there are some brass (copper and zinc) gongs out there. A lot of places online will say brass but they mean bronze. We only have a few very small brass gongs, usually they are used as decorative or celebratory gongs. I just want to double check before we make a recommendation either way.

Thank you for the answer ☺️ yeah i am in italy so i have the great Ufip for cymbals / gong.. and i have take a brass 32 inch tam tam from ufip.. powerful tone and with a slower opening of the sound.. is quite high the foundamental note for to be a 32 inch but I thonk because is brass tam tam.. but I think i have not the right mallet. And i was thinking a Day to set togheter to a solar flare or a dark wind 🤩❤️

What kind of mallet do you have currently? :) Does it have a brand or a make / model? Is it a hard, yarn-wrapped mallet, or a soft-headed "wool" type of mallet? How large?
@emanuelegiocondo3129 Жыл бұрын
the first was a simple sonic energy of meinl with light weight and hard and not so much big felt head that is good for "more hard sounds" but is more for singing bowls. the second i have a Thomann GSH XL that is for gongs. is heavy and with big Red cloth hood. is great but the same i think is the gong. this gong have a high fundamental note pitch in the center for to be 32 inch with slow opening and long decay of a wind gong. but is made of brass, and have deep bass on the edge especially played soft. i think is because shape / type of working / material?
