Video Recorded on April 7, 2022: So i’ve basically realized that yesterday (September 19th) was the start of “rail safety week“. Anyways, notice how that car shown in the beginning of this video literally rushed through the crossing right when the gate was just started to come down. Remember, when you are coming to a railroad crossing and you see the lights start flashing and gates that are about to come down, that means STOP. Wait until the gates are completely open back up before you continue. It’s the law and if a police officer caught you doing that, you might get a ticket or a fine depending on which state you live in. I posted the “rail safety week” website which is linked below. Awesome catch Jim! We’ll have to get you up to Michigan some time, we have many lines. Examples include over 5 CN subdivisions, a couple CSX subs including the Detroit sub. Norfolk Southern has a couple as well both NS and CSX very busy subs.

I wish but I can't do Michigan 'cause my parents think it's too dangerous there. But anyways, what did you think of that car running through an activated railroad crossing seen in the beginning of this video?

@@JimLiElevators Certain parts of Michigan are areas you have be alert at for sure. Especially Wayne County (since Detroit is there) but for the most part you would be just fine, I go down to Detroit and other cities like that all the time. You just have to be aware of yourself. But there are other great safe areas to go to railfan. And for the car that ran the gate, I mean if they want to risk getting hit by a train and having to go through that whole process of getting a new one or possibly losing your life, go for it. Otherwise don’t take the risk, it’s not worth it. Patience is something many of us in the US lack.

Oh and to add onto the whole safety factor. A couple sites I’ve looked at have ranked Michigan in the 20s (out of 50) for safest. Texas from what I saw was in the 40s (out of 50)
