A lot of this video was questionable as far as getting help. It was all scripted. She looked very unhappy infront of the case worker. The hug and dialogue by case worker looks so fake to those of us who have been through it all. I don't know of any white woman that were helped in the union. I know how horribly white women were treated there. They were set up and kicked out by staff just for being white. It was horrible there. The staff were evil to white women. The other homeless women were so evil and wanted to beat them up just for being white. It was a truly horrible place.

The only purpose in life the first 18 years is a high school Diploma. If you can't afford Community College, and it's free if you're poor, or a minority, then you can always join the Military. Didn't anybody teach them that after high school you have to be a productive adult. The only joy you will ever get out of life you earn and you will pay for it in Spades. How did these people figure to get by without being responsible and productive. Feeling good may not happen for years. The only thing that matters is being Selfsuficent and not being a burden to others. After 50 years of working 60-80 hours a week I'm finally Retired. At 66 life is just starting to get good. Didn't these people get the memo. They wonder why I resent them being a burden on the rest of us.

This is a travesty...I was homeless for three years in Florida and I can relate to much of what she said. There is never a relaxing moment and just showering and eating takes planning. You are put in survival mode and your always in fight or flight mode. My father eventually took me in and helped me get back in my feet. I remember going in and sitting in a restaurant right after I left the streets. People were having normal conversations and eating family meals. It was a scene so out of the norm for me that I had an anxiety attack and had to leave. Three years later, with the proper psych drugs and support, I feel like a human being again. I want to pay it forward so I have begun volunteering at a nearby homeless shelter. I want every person to know that they do matter and they are not invisible.

Good for you,Sharon,that you escaped alive from being homeless !! Many people don't have any living relatives to go to. Or family bis too toxic and abusive to go near them. More ex- homeless people are returning to help their fellow homeless, that's what is so needed. Ex homeless helping the ones who still are. Most people who run the shelters and agencies were never homeless,and don't know or care how one ever gets housed. It's just a job,not a calling for THEM,see. Seeing a person housed, that's always a heart warmer 👍💖

I have been trying to help a homeless lady for a few years. She is a victim of domestic violence. Used to be an architect but then turned to alcohol. She later became a Christian and I met her at church. My husband and I helped her with some portion of tuition and she got a degree in theology. We also helped her to pay for a smartphone for a couple of years. But the reality is that she is trapped in a victim mentality disorder. People at church help her. She stays at their houses but she doesn’t work regularly. She works part time for a low wage and it’s not enough for her to get her own place. From time to time she calls and asks for money. Then she is on the streets sleeping in the park. Her kids do not talk to her. Her siblings too. She looks normal. She is intelligent but she is messed up. she thinks because she is a victim the world owes her. I do not see any effort from her to find the way out. I suspect she likes that people feel sorry for her. When one church figures it out she finds another church. Christians are kind people. Now she stays with elderly couple in TX. She called me a couple of days ago. She cried and asked for money. I told her that she is not a victim and I am not sorry for her because her situation is the result of decisions she took. She blames her parents, ex husband and blah blah. No responsibility for her own actions. And I told her that she is able to become independent, get a job, get her own place. She keeps whining. I pray for her. What else can I do?

People, especially christians, will get neck deep in pride and say I helped you for do long, you haven't reached a place that I want you to be, so I'm done. Imagine if God did that to us. You seem like one of those good people who's sincerely trying to help and doesn't know what to do anymore but remember this: Jesus had to chastise his own disciples for refusing to learn what he'd been teaching them for years. But he didn't walk away from them. When he finally had to leave he made sure to leave his people a helper. But he didn't leave out of frustration that people weren't bettering themselves. Who's your example Jesus or some pride filled church goer saying shit like God helps people who help themselves? Who do you answer to, God or man? Your situation is tough because noone wants to feel played or like an enabler or like their help isnt improving anything but the Bible doesn't say to help until you decide that she should be in a certain place or until you decide she is no longer a victim or until you decide that she has a victim mentality or to help until you feel like you're being played. It says to help. You can ask God if you're enabling and if God says no or says yes but I can work through that and use that for my glory, you help. People might tell you that you helped enough but you don't work for people. You work for God. Be the samaritan not the levite If she's taxing your resources. God WILL provide you with more. Where do you think your resources came from to begin with? It's good that you have been helping. I hope you don't slip into that place so many christians do though when it stops becoming about people in need and starts becoming about you. if God says stop helping her, you stop helping her. Otherwise ask God how he wants you to help her then go ahead with it.

I don't know why the government, city council, assemblymen, can't do something about this problem. This is unacceptable in any city in this country, totally unacceptable. I'm from NYC, and there's no way our mayor, assembly, or city council would ever except this. Not to say we don't have homelessness in NY, but never to this magnitude, and sleeping out on the street, with tents, NEVER. I don't no any other city that would allow this!!!

@Rodney Bidmade I am sorry you feel that way. I believe in freedom. I believe if I earn my money that no one should have the right to take it from me or your money from you either. I believe that my government taxes its people enough for these issues. The ONLY reason these issues are not taken care of in this country is the government is giving a great deal of our taxes who hate us, who burn our flag. STOP SENDING THEM MONEY. Take care of our American people, the addicted, the mentally ill, our vets. To throw more money at this problem is ludicrous. That is my opinion and I don't see how you cannot see that. As mad and upset as you get at what you consider "rich" people not giving more money to this problem, get mad at your government leaders and FIRE THEM FROM THEIR JOBS until they take responsibility for managing our taxes.

I feel sorry for these people. Before anyone’s judges , we don’t know the background of their story and what led to where they are at in life currently. It’s sickening how LA is home to many billionaires but yet no one can take the time out to invest in some type of housing and recovery as a solution. This is a crisis that is happening right in front of us. America will help out foreign countries but can’t even help out their own people. May god bless these people and regardless of anyone’s status we’re all loved the same in Gods eyes. This could happen to anyone of us with unfortunate life circumstances. This is someone’s mother, daughter, father, son, friend etc and they are all loved despite any of their right or wrong choices in life. I’ve met a friend that shared with me his story of going from a top CEO at a well known company to getting hooked on opioids for medical issues, became homeless and presently overcome these obstacles and is sober and employed. It can happen to anyone and it’s never to late to still have faith if you are facing these obstacles in life.

I feel so bad for these people. I'm trying to understand this situation better. I don't understand why she wouldn't just get a minimum wage job and save money instead of relying on the help of others. Live in a tent, sure, housing is near impossible to afford there, but at least earn money while you're doing nothing. I live in the area and they're always hiring at senior living homes, fast food, retail, etc. It's not difficult to get hired there. Otherwise, move out of this extremely expensive city, get a one way ticket to a cheap city like Bakersfield just 2 hours north, and rent an apartment there for $700 a month. Min wage job totally covers the cost of living there. I don't know why people get stuck in these expensive cities and claim there's no way out.
@bradcampbell57665 жыл бұрын
Screwed up priorities, foggy thinking...If she goes to work she has to leave her tent and belongings, and so she is confused. The value of her stuff is probably less than $50, maybe the tent is worth $100, but it is home, and she is kind of stuck there.

It proves that many, if not most of the inhabitants are not victims of a society that won't give them jobs, or has done them wrong in some way. It's a choice. The more research you do into this specific subject - L.A.'s Skid Row and the west coast's tent cities in general - the more eye opening facts you learn. Journalists have gone out interviewing skid row inhabitants and found that so many actually want to _not_ be working, collecting whatever free handouts and welfare they can get, and just wasting away into drug and alcohol oblivion. They want the easy way out. Just loafing all day, high/drunk, no bills to pay, no responsibilities, and getting free food and handouts. Though this particular woman's situation obviously things are different. But in general the skid row/tent cities situation isn't what many kindhearted, naive people think it is.

Homelessness has increased 170 percent since the actor became President. We bail out other countries an spend billions of dollars on death and destruction, while this becomes a third world country. The situation is getting worse here as well. This is deplorable! Have made videos on this issue with hope it will wake people up.

Because the country cannot survive without them. The Department of Agriculture estimates that about half of the nation's farmworkers are unauthorized, while 15 percent of those in construction lack papers - more than the share of legal immigrants in either industry. In the service sector, which would include jobs such as fast food and domestic help, the figure is about 9 percent.

I’ve never been to LA or California for that matter, and I’ve always known they have had a problem with high numbers of homeless but watching this was shocking. I had no idea it was this bad. I mean you’re talking like blocks and blocks filled with tents and people sleeping in tents on the sidewalks. In my opinion this is a result of high costs of living, high costs of homes in California, bad decisions made by the politicians, and a high population. If I ever go to LA I’ll remember this place and help out for a couple days.
