This extraordinary collection of jewellery was handed down to this lady by her grandmother who passed away at the grand old age of 102. Items that catch the eye include a Georgian gold belcher link chain, making for a valuation that takes the owner completely by surprise. In the year 2000 when this was filmed the average price of gold was $279 per tr.oz. Now in 2023 it is a little over $2000 per tr.oz. Even accounting for inflation every item shown here would be worth about 4x-6x the 2000 value just for the metals.

That is so exciting to have a piece of your families history!! I would be more excited to have had my mother, grandmother and great grandmother, share their knowledge of where each piece of jewelry came from and the history of it. @@nowknow Gold doesn't inflate but very slowly, as more is discovered and mined. Fiat currencies are inflated by reckless money printing, though.

@@HondaFan470 Thrown into buying an over-inflated in price house, no doubt. In the meantime the value of gold has kept up with the price of houses and old jewelry gets melted down every day, so that can only rise in value over the generations, if kept in good condition.

It's worth MUCH more than his estimate. Much more. Those are one of a kind pieces of jewelry of very high quality if they're in real gold. I'd be willing to pay her an arm & a leg for those jewels. 🎉

I have totes and totes of jewelry that needs to be sorted.... After my house was broken into and they stole my whole entire jewelry box then I had my daughter and I started hoarding jewelry and I would buy bags of jewelry and things like that I know there's some really expensive pieces in there I know I found a 18 karat gold multi-colored sapphire bracelet like a tennis bracelet a 14 karat gold diamond tennis bracelet a pair of diamond earrings that were valued at like $4,000 I gave to my mother on top of other unusual pieces and my husband said to put it all on the internet for $500 I said you're insane there's no way even if I took some of the silver plaques and bowls I could probably get 500 bucks easy for a couple pieces just in their weight... What's worse is I love all the stuff that's in there and don't want to get rid of it I guess it makes me kind of crazy if I had stuff like this I would wear it I think it's beautiful and it tells a story every piece of jewelry that I wear I remember where I got it and who gave it to me or how much it was and what I was doing that day it's a memory that's engraved in my mind and I think that jewelry carries energy especially pieces that never come off

I think he was estimating the value too low ,especially since the ring was engraved in 1849. I think if it were appraised in the states the value would be much greater . He must be doing that to make an offer ,I hope she gets another opinion .
