I appreciate this judge giving them the lecture and constantly repeating...so they can never say they did not know. I also appreciate the grandparents stepping in for the children AND being compliant with CPS...refusing to return the children without direct communication with CPS...oh and I forgot the appreciation for the parents...polite, respectful AND wanting their children home. Good luck to them

Re 1st case: Does anyone know why CPS showed up at their home in the first place? There are so many very evident cases, sometimes it's seems really invasive. What is the reason? After watching these videos, I've told everyone in my family, everyone I know, to hire an attorney immediately before talking or opening a door to anyone from CPS. These people are making decisions and then frequently come to court without all info, can barely communicate intelligently, and are very bias and jaded.

I couldn't tell, and usually you get an idea. I have to say, I wouldn't be _totally_ surprised if the fact that they live on family acreage that's fenced and gated, and DFPS wasn't getting the physical access they wanted, is what made DFPS so aggressive on this case. They react poorly to people who hire attorneys before talking to them, too (although you should), as if they have absolutely no idea why a safe parent would _ever_ be afraid of them. DFPS really has run off the rails on what they're allowed to do, and the standard to which they hold many parents. It's a mission creep/'when all you have is a hammer'-type situation, similar to "child abuse specialists" in hospitals seeing child abuse everywhere.

From what I gather they live out in some sort of commune. From judges remarks it sounds like they gave the Dept the run around when they tried to check on the kids due to some anti government beliefs and only dropped the shenanigans when they were placed with grandparents. They seem to be harmless kooks rather than diehard cultists so the judge is giving them the benefit of the doubt

A quick note that I hope doesn't trip this family up: it is _significantly_ more common than not for marijuana levels to fluctuate (including going *up)* upon cessation. So at least one of them is likely to have increased marijuana levels at least once, even after stopping. It just metabolizes differently than other drugs. Some courts seem to know this, but some courts seem not to.

I hope the parents are successful in their efforts to be good parents and do what they need to for their babies! I never had an experience with CPS until my granddaughter was born. My daughter was on medical marijuana when she got pregnant and quit but still disclosed it to her doctor. After my granddaughter was born CPS showed up at the hospital and my granddaughter could not go home until they did a home check and did an interview with me. It was the most frightening situation I have been in. Of course everything worked out, but I would never want to be in that situation again!

And way too many so called parents doing meth…coke…other drugs…drinking….DV men and women…..basically ignoring their children. Yes I do believe that at times there’s too many involved in getting something done but would also help a great deal if parents would make the choice to give their kids a better life and work very hard at it. When you have parents who continue to test positive for these drugs and alcohol their kids pay a price for the behavior of the parents. When you’ve treated a child that has either been burned by a parent or thrown on the floor in a rage and even molested a child and all the parent can say is “I was on drugs at the time so that’s why I did it” is not a reason…it’s an excuse. You’re the ones who decided to bring this child into your miserable lives….make it work for both of you….it could possibly bring the parent to a better life.

I am glad the first couple are getting their children back. I think they will stay straight and be a good mom and dad. On the 2nd one, it's too bad that dad wasn't in a position to take the child from the begging of the case. He may be in a better position at this time but the son doesn't know him any more. IMO the child is better off with his aunt in New York because they are bonded and that's where he wants to be. Thanks for the video.

I'm 54 years old and that's all my "father" ever did. Meanwhile, he never paid child support, never wrote a letter, picked up the phone, or asked for his children. Now, that it's been well over a decade since his wife died (long story), he then blamed her. It's always someone else's fault... I have no sympathy for these fathers making excuses for not seeing their kids. It's what the courts are there for!

The kid is 10! And he has the direct number of the main CPS lady. CPS is often perceived as acting hastily in removing children from their homes. While the mother's case may be understandable, the father, as in Jonathan's case, seems to have been disregarded. I agree with the father's viewpoint. It appears unfair for him to suffer repercussions when the problem originated with the mother. The father seems genuine, and if given the opportunity to reconnect with his son, he could serve as a positive parental figure. It is unfortunate for the father, who is not at fault. This situation prompts questions about the rationale behind discussions of terminating parental rights when he has reliably provided child support.

Bro. This dude is talking about what is going to be easiest and most ideal for him, regarding fostering a relationship with his son. Did he hear that his son literally just said that the only place he wanted to be was in NY. Why not foster a better relationship with your son by sticking up for him in the way of pleading the court to listen to the son. And then start making your virtual visits. Consistently. And see where it goes. I understand that he feels his sons’ mother is the reason he doesn’t have a good relationship with his son/isn’t involved with his son. And sure, he probably is right about that. I just hate when these adults make it all about them and completely ignoring the kids best interest or what the kid is requesting. I understand his dismay and I get how that would make him feel slighted. But he needs to take his time. Let his son go the place that he is saying where he wants to be. And then work on standing up for him by being consistent. If the kid becomes comfortable with you based on your consistency, maybe reuniting with you will be more plausible in the future. I could be totally off on all this.
@JordanEmede_376
@JordanEmede_376 5 ай бұрын
I agree pops needs to develope that relationship alot more before expecting placement. At the same time, we're talking about a 10 year old here. So I would imagine he would like to go live in LA and be an influencer and maybe he decides to get on hormones and transition " do needless to say I'm not all that on board with just letting a 10 year old make serious decisions 100% he should absolutely be asked and his feelings be considered but I'm not just backing a 10 year old on life altering decisions and I believe a logical parent wouldn't either.

Why is she such a prude about cannabis? With all the medicinal properties and stuff I don't see how she thinks that it's some bad "drug". If it's not being smoked around the children, I really don't see it as a problem. It's gonna be legal within the next few years federally, it's not a "drug". It's a medicine for many things. It even helps people through withdrawal and helps them get off or actusl drugs. And it may be habit forming but it's not addictive like others. People really need to do their research and open their minds to see the truth about cannabis. Many doctors have. I've seen cannabis so amazing things that medicines couldn't!! Cancer, Parkinsons, MS, seizures, addiction etc. The list goes on...

I agree with you for the most part, however much like alcohol which is also legal it does impair you.. I think they want the parents to be totally sober while parenting their children.. Having been the non offending parent i completely understand the fathers questions. I was forced to do services that the offending parents were to do. in the case even thought they admitted i was the non offending parent and lived 75 miles away when the incident happened, they didn't care. I have never done drugs including marijuana yet i had to do weekly drug tests that always came up clean excluding my prescribed medication, i was forced to take a parenting class where i had to write a letter to my daughter saying im sorry for hurting her when i did nothing wrong and wasn't even there when the incident happened. i also had to do a dna test because there was a step female. it was all messed up. as for new york, the homeless/shelter system is very hard to navigate and there is at least 3 tiers you have to traverse before the talk about housing happens. not having her child with her she will never get past tier 1. now this is in nyc and this was in 2011. if their system has changed for the better that would be amazing.

I simply made comments about the fact that the things he was saying were not going to matter, and that the focus for the court is the child. Most of his statements were about what is best for him, and that isn't going to help his case or his son. I hope he gets to build the relationship that the mother interfered with, because it's always better for a child to have a parent showing an interest and trying to be there. I'm sorry if my comments bothered you, but I react organically to what I hear, and I do it in the moment. Many times I reach the end with a different opinion than I started with.

Probably best to watch the whole video and also you can quietly unsub. Most people don’t make an announcement when they unsub.

I don't think the Judge would make the decision she did without a really strong reason and I am glad she was firm and clear with the parents, don't f it up Mom and Dad this is a rarity but I also think it sends a message to the government hating other members on the property, perhaps they think they won, but hopefully they will see it's not everyone who is corrupt, there are good and bad people in every branch of police, govt, court systems, CPS, and the good ones outweigh the bad, we just focus on the bad... And good on the Dad in the 2nd case for stepping up, better late than never
