Enjoy some of the most unique and antiquated railroad crossings which made it into my video collection, located on Dworcowa and 3 Maja streets in Puszczykowo, Wielkopolskie, Poland. Both crossings in the video were captured in July 2016.
Railroad crossing on Dworcowa street was an absolutely unique installation even when I recorded it back in 2016. It featured last of a kind combination of ZWUS EHZ-12 single-light signals from 1970s and four mechanical crossing gates powered by JEG-10 electric motors (in fact, it was last combination of mechanical gates with any kind of signals in general). On top of that, crossing also equipped electric gate type EG-20, which protected the passage to the train platform. EG-20s were the oldest type of electric crossing gates used on polish railways, produced by ZWUS from 1950s until around 1978. They were commonly installed on automatic crossings type COB-58 and COB-63/63A, but last such installation was dismantled in 2011. Since then, platform gate in Puszczykowo remained as the last example of EG-20 type on polish railway network.
Second crossing shown in the video, located on 3 Maja street, featured a more modest setup with two mechanical gates (one with a bell installed) powered by two JEG-10 electric motors. Nowadays, there are just two crossings with JEG-10 motors left in service nationwide, both scheduled for modernization in the next few years.
Railroad crossing on Dworcowa street was modernized in the fall of 2016. Old signalling devices were replaced with Bombardier SPR-2 manual crossing system, featuring EHZ-75 signals and EEG-3 type electric gates. Railroad crossing on 3 Maja street was completely dismantled on December 9th 2016 and since then there is no crossing of any kind in its former location.
