great cam, looks like the Sony ZV1 or 10. Your audio would be improved if you get an external mic system, DJI Mic system, Rhode Mic System, even a shotgun mic, A small rig cage may help you out also with places to connect accessories

What keeps you from moving into the larger house, further from the marina and roads? I have owned some expensive cameras over the years, and I always kept a cheaper one for use on or near water, especially salt water and sand. My expensive camera now is my Mavic 3, which I have used hand held a few times to make use of the gimbal. My Note 20 Ultra has a larger sensor than most phones, so it is my daily use camera now. I assume that you have a good camera strap on your new camera to keep it around your neck if something caused you to have to turn loose of it. A larger camera body should keep you from jerking it around like a phone or tiny camera.

Bigger doesn’t always mean better! For us as fulltime liveaboards, our house is a much more practical fit. More privacy, more wind protection, better layout for a couple only needing 1 bedroom (no valuable ground level square footage wasted on a kids/guest room that gets used twice a year lol), etc. & actually it’s further from the marina & much further from the bulk of the boat traffic in the main channel. If I only used a cheaper camera on water..I’d only ever use a cheap camera! 😅 just comes with the territory, I’ll just have to be very careful. Yep, it’s got a good strap on it. 🙌

Is the inspection process really intense/thorough being the house is on the water?

Kind of the opposite! 😅 less intense than building codes on land.. but also less sensical. At least building codes on land are there for safety. there are some really random rules to get your house approved here that don’t have anything to do with safety lol, just the way TVA likes things to be done 🤷🏼‍♀️ almost like an HOA. but in terms of inspections and safety there are really very few things they actually care about.

Hi there! i’m not sure what your first question was asking but as for the second, it’s just like any house anywhere - longevity depends on building materials & technique, as well as maintenance. I really couldn’t give an estimate for how long a floating house in general would last, any more than I could give that estimate for a house on land in general.
