Unique Houseplants for any collection || Favorite plants July 2024

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment in New York City filled with over 100 plants that i share with my husband and 2 kids. I got really into houseplants 4 years ago and have been amazed at how the greenery has transformed my apartment into the ultimate urban oasis. I have a particular love for tropical plants; specifically Aroids, and Anthuriums make up a huge part of my collection. I love sharing how common, uncommon and rare plants can add character, beauty and living art to indoor spaces.
Summer is in full swing here in New York City. Time for me to share my current favorite plants in the apartment! There are a mix of monstera, ficus, anthurium, philodendron, even a succulent makes an appearance!

Hey! Hope that you and your plants are surviving this humid summer!!!! Can't wait to watch the new video😊. You're not helping my addiction at all. Thanks to you, I went to The Green Escape and got some starter plants 😢. If you must know, I got the ficus umbellata and anthurium luxurians. Over the years, I always acquired plants that were fully developed and ready to go. I never considered buying them as pups and watching them flourish over time. Thank you for a new perspective with that. Your beautiful anthurium collection has now peaked my interest with that genus. Can't wait to see them grow.

I’d LOVE to see you repot your Vechii!! I just bought one recently and would love to see that!! I cannot get my donky tail going, she’s right up at the window but it’s not overly happy, maybe watering too much or inconsistent care 🤷‍♀️

Girl, that Frydek! I k1ll3d mined off sadly. I could never get it to be happy. Leaf cycling and spider mites eventually took it out. What a dream to have such a beautiful one. I had her in Pon. I don’t know girl, I haven’t mastered Alo’s. I’ll have to try your alo mix. I use a very similar mix for spider mites as you. I often rotate sprays out as they become tolerant. But dang those little critters are relentless. My mix is peppermint and tea tree Castille equal parts. Alcohol. And water. I also have been but use it on its own. 🤷‍♀️ Your Zara Michelle is magic. My goodness. She would be a favorite for me too! I have a Zara. I have a Michelle. But not the hybrid. Yes someone please help us out! I need one! Mine are babies so it would take a while to breed mine. Even her roots are magic! Your ficus is gorgeous. I’ve got a massive Lyrata and what I’ve learned about ficus is definitely they want light. I think that’s why people seem to struggle with them. More light! I’m surprised to hear it’s a spider mite magnet! Are the leaves thin or thick? Curious! It’s so charming! Chefs kiss on the Lux. Mine is a wee baby and I am obsessed. I wish it kept the silver leaves but that texture is truly epic. While I’m excited to watch it grow she’s one I’m enjoying small. So gorgeous. Why do you reduce the amount of tree fern as the plant gets larger? I just recently started using tree fern. Is it because it holds too much moisture? Can’t wait to see what your little hybrids become! What a cool cross! Those loves on your king 😊 I love how the leaves come out but why do they insist on changing directions and going all wonky? 😂 Your donkey tail is literally goals! I can’t get mine to drape without it dropping leaves lol. I look at it sideways and plop. Lost a leaf lol. I should move it inside to a window because even the breeze causes the leaves to drop. I now need that queen. My goodness. Nothing beats a good monstera. I can’t wait to show mine in the next HPT. It looks amazing. Mine lives outside but I take cuttings from her pretty often. I like to put them in glass pitchers with moss until it roots then give them away. They look so gorgeous as a centerpiece while rooting! I need to get obovata. Oh my gosh the Frydek and her spidermites are just too much!!! It’s exhausting, good thing she is so pretty😏 Wow, I’d love to see your Zara and your Michelle. About to watch your plant tour so I guess I’ll see them soon! The Umbellata has very thin leaves thinner than lyrata for sure hence the water uptake. Spider mites on that one surprised me too. They don’t seem to do much damage to it though, so that’s comforting.

@@Monefsjungle mine are just wee babies. I got them not too long ago (my Zara and Michelle) they gave me a bit of a run for my money. But I think we are on the upswing now. They are in my houseplant tour part 1 video. The spider mites are exhausting. Relentless. However I’ll take them over mealies and thrips lol. Monstera love’s outside but she’s about to get a chop because she’s outgrowing her outdoor space lol. I’ll be showing her in the next one. 💚

Do you use the fiber with the sticks or the fiber that looks more like cocopeat?

I use the fiber withe the sticks although there are some quite fine particles towards the bottom of the bag that look a little like coco peat.
