@@luciansteph Yes, I do but I try to restart my aroids if they get too big just to save space. The only ones I don’t restart are my orchids and succulents. Eventually I would like to collect just hoyas, orchids and some succulents, it will make my watering day just a bit easier.

I’m in the Phoenix metro area in the USA. For my region I’ve found an Aeroid and chonky orchid mix works amazingly! In my home things dry up SUPER fast. I can’t even keep my succulents in terracotta because of drying out issues. So like chonky pumice, chonky coco husk pieces, coco coir, chonky orchid bark and some tropical planting soil mixed in is my recipe To root mine usually go right into the soil and they’re in self watering pots with a wick that draws up lower amounts of water than a regular wick so the soil is like a wrung out sponge. It works well for no drainage glass containers, but you just have to be smart about the watering. I can get roots and new growth within 2 weeks on fresh cuttings. I do cheat and use a rooting hormone I got for my succulents which doesn’t work for them but for all my Hoya and zz varieties it works ridiculously well Once rooted I use 1/2 fertilizer mixed with the water I use to regularly water and do a full fertilization once a month. Everyone is super happy and saved my Krimson Queen pots (2 pots, 12ft of vine in total) doing this. Outside of that, prop in a glass container, no drainage with my soil half way, a thick layer of pumice or perlite on top and use 1/3 the volume of the container worth of water inside and plastic wrap the top I air out nightly and I even got my Serpens or Xiaojie root under a month and I’m getting new growth from the vine while in there with a tiny cutting of Hoya Sunrise I’d say feel free to break rules and experiment with your Hoya propagations for your region in the world! I think I’m going to start trying growing in more coco chunk chunks and see how that goes. It makes over watering (with drainage) almost impossible. It can only absorb so much water and won’t hold more than it can and releases the water at a steady rate

I used to struggle rooting Hoya also. Then I tried the humidity bag trick. IT WORKS! Try putting in a plastic bag to root or place in a lidded clear storage bin (prop box). The uncreased humidity will let that baby root like a champ.

I enjoyed your video and the tips. “Wet sticks” are a thing in Hoyas, just less often heard of! I have a suluwesiana cutting I got as a 1-leaf, 1-node, and the leaf dropped as soon as I got it. So I kept the stem and rooted it. Now the plant has about 7 or 8 leaves :) 🍃

Actually you can sometimes get wet sticks to root and grow leaves, I cut of a leafless vine with nodes that hadn't sprouted leaves and put it with some other cuttings in pon and it has since grown a leaf. I heard Basie Plants mention it can be done, so I figured why not give it a shot. I don't like throwing things away, especially if I'm trying to get a fuller pott.

Very helpful tips but I definitely think that plant collectors who just have hoyas but are not hoya heads or hoya collectors are the ones who don’t know how to make a hoya flourish.
