Aboriginal Welcome to Country Ceremony for new Vice Chancellor, Professor David Lloyd

On the 21st of March 2013, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Professor David Lloyd was welcomed with a special Kaurna "ceremonial welcome to country".
The ceremony marks the first time a Vice Chancellor has been welcomed to South Australian lands by the traditional owners at a university graduation ceremony.

I loved being part of this ceremony - and witnessing this warm welcome. Our Indigenous leaders and young people gave such a great welcome. It was great to see Aboriginal culture and history acknowledged, and - in this context - having the Vice Chancellor salute his own Irish heritage.
